When I get my 97 gs500 hot (I am assuming it's the heat) about a 25 min. drive. If I turn it off then back on (say go into a store) then one sparkplug will die.

so heres what I tried.
1 switch coils, the problem appears on same cylinder
2 change plugs, brand new iridiums, same problem.
3 ???

please help
thanks in advance.

Could be several things, try the easy stuff first........check and clean all the ground connections to the frame and the leads on the negative terminal of the battery. See if that makes a difference first.

could be the triggers TO the coils, that will be a bit more inovlved, but not bad tho. anyhoo, wait until you try the "easy stuff first"

Yamahon is right ... 25 mins will turn into 5 mins in a few days.

ok I'm up and ready to start checking grounds,
BTW when you medtioned about checking the negative battery terminal, it got me thinking, does the bike need the battery to stay charged to run the bike or can it run without?
The reason I ask is that the battery seems to be getting bad, I have had to bump start it 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

ok I checked the negative cable, the ground inside the little igniter area and the coils ground, all ok.
so where to now.
