Hey everyone,

So I have been checking out all led posts that have been coming up and I just couldnt hold out anymore. I know pictures never do justice than being there in person.. But I hope this will give new meaning to "Bright" leds... (Sorry for quality of pictures.. I was using the phone camera..)

So I took a few of these small leds..

Lumiled Superflux LEDS.. smaller than a penny.. but cost way more than a penny! haha..

and well lets see the progress..

Here is a picture of a regular bulb lighting up in a tail light housing..  Pretty boring and well.. the bulb is bright (and hot! dont ask.. :) )
The stupid one bulb draws 2 amps alone! haha pushed the multimeter to the limit.. and here is a light output..

Here is a picture to try to not catch the light back from the bulb..

Here is a paper in front of the bulb so you can see its the same output.. Yeah I know there is no reflector from the back of the tail to show the reflected light as well.. but it will be insignificant as we move on.

and well. here are a few leds turned on and tested..

This is looking directly at the tail.. I love the red! LEDS are just so vibrant. It makes me just want to sit and stare.. Again, this is not all of the leds wired up. With all of the leds wired.. I am pulling about .9 amps. Less than the bulb! In the picture.. I am pulling about .05 amps..

So lets see what the output might look like with all wired....

Sexy! Haha. Superbright! I just need to voltage regulate them and then Ill wire them and put them in my bike and give you output pictures.. Let me just tell you, these things are like looking at the sun.. I can see a slight image burn in my eyes when I look away.. Everything will be done totally stock so its even replaceable in case I somehow use them for 60,000+ hours. I am also not running them at full power, because.. Well I feel bad for cagers..  :icon_twisted:

I will post more as soon as I am done, I hope to finish by the end of the week..

Cool, but no need to put others down - I can make mine look identical to your pictures in brightness - all about the camera capturing light.

Dont knock em til you see in person.   :thumb:

Yeah sorry. I edited the post. and I bought the same LEDS that you have, so I know the output of both.

Its always one picture then the next.
How about some side by side lighting comparisons?

shuluke

Side by side will be done right after I find some heatsinks for the voltage regulator.. these things get hot at 15 volts! Ill post whatever pictures you would like to see running on my bike.

Why don;'t you make a reg that has variable impedance.  Then you can dial=a=bright

ohgood

day shots from >60ft, next to a stock signal usually gives a good idea of the birghtness.

the night pictures always show -something- bright, but it's very difficult to tell thanks to digital cameras automagical compensation.

how about posting where you bought them, how much, maybe your circuit, etc.

leds are so much fun ! :)

Was thinking of adding a PWM with regulator w/variable impedance but I wanted to make it simple with other projects going on. I might have to if cops dont like the lights..

60' pictures will be done. Thanks for the suggestion. As for parts and components and circuit diagram, most of it cant be purchased by sole consumer.. need to buy in bulk. But I can draw some schematics if you would like. I just was doing it as I was going.

Ok, will try to meet with a member today with the sv650 tail section. I tried taking pictures yesterday but they are still saturating my camera.. Hopefully tonights pictures will be much better.

Also made the 5 dollar camera mount but cost 12.01.. ;) I have a little vibration still but Ill try adding more rubber washers..
