my 90 gs500 carb problems??

I think I am having carb issues.  I just got done unplugging the jets after they got plugged and it ran fine until I brought it home now when I go to start it it starts low and when I open the throttle it revs about 3000 and then boggs down to 1500 and then revs up to 5-6. I don't have a clue where to go from here any suggestions??

Clean them again ... maybe you got tank rust.

Add an inline filter  so your not doing it 2 miles later

The inline filter is the reason I did it in the first place, but I don't think it is working anymore.  I initially hooked it up backwords filling the carbs with junk and I have cleaned the jets twice now and drained and blew out the lines with compressed air, but apparently has happened again.  I am going to clean them again and replace the inline filter with a new one.  Does that sound about right??

Same thing happened to me, the second time around I replaced all fuel lines, threw in a new filter and she has been running great since. I think I made it about half way down my street when it clogged up again the first time.

Fuel filter for a rusty tank is like a bandaid on cancer ... but it will let you definetly see if it is the rust. It will work for a few miles, enough to know how the bike runs ...
Treat the rust. I'd do it for $60 for a POR 15 job with pretty rapid turn around times for a GS ... but the idea is to get the rust out and a good coating with somehting meant for that purpose in.

Okay so as an update I went and got some yamaha carburetor cleaner(the dip kind) and I pulled the bowls off and let the carbs soak in the mix for about 3 hours and then replaced the fuel filter with a new one. When I put the bike back together it started right up, but two mile later it died again doing the same thing it has done the last three times.  So I don't know what I am doing wrong or how crap could get through the brand new fuel filter.  Anyone have any other ideas??
