Charlotte/Belmont/Gastonia to Boone NC

Any other riders in this area im a new gs owner and was just wondering if anyone else was in this broad area, I go to school in Boone but my family is in Belmont, i am very interested in moding and spursing up 04 GS F and was hoping anyone in this area would be willing to impart their knowledge on me and if they would like to go riding at some point

It isn't terribly close, but it isn't terribly far either;  The Tail of the Dragon, aka Deals Gap, or US 129.  Honestly, this stretch of road is a little overrated.  It is just too hectic to enjoy.  It is a lot of fun, but kinda stressful.  Not far from there is a little piece of heaven called the Cherahalla Skyway.  The Skyway is one of the best rides I've ever been on.  It is very scenic with a lot of sweepers, little traffic, few cops, and good pavement.  Well thats how it was a few years ago when I rode it at least.  Although from Boone, unless you want a long day in the saddle, this isn't a day ride.
