So I was planning on doing a V&H dual high mount exhaust. as far as the intake goes I would like to do a dual cold air intake on both sides of the bike. any thougts or comments. I know jetting will be a Buddha Loves You

I can't find the guys site.He modded the GS air box using auto heat and ac flex duct.He had filter pods inside the air box. They were smaller in diameter than the K&N pods and str8 not cone shaped. He ran the intake tubes up under the headlight.I didn't see how they were connected to the air box.Look like the tubes ran over the engine and out the notches in the front of the frame. This is all I can remember right off.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

I was planning using flex hose from the carbs then alluminum tubing going over the motor and out both notches with two small airfilters sticking out the sides pointing forward

Sounds better than the set up I saw floating around.

Im just trying to figure out should I use alluminum tubing(free frm work)
or chrome plastic tubing I can ge from pepboys. I guess I can chrome the tubing if needed.

Ok...there's a difference between ram air and cold air.  Your bike already has a cold air feed.  You can enhance it by cutting the airbox up but that alone isn't going to make any noticeable difference.

Ram-air is different and that's when you're going to need tubing and stuff.  If you're going to try and build up a ram-air setup, you need to start with the carburetors.  You'll never see positive pressure but you'll see less vacuum than the engine's natural draw.  This play's hell with carburetors.  You'll have to seal the carburetors in their own box, or pressurize the carbs (box is much, much easier).

ABS tubing deteriorates in the sun.  Aluminum does not.

I recall having a conversation with Werase once about SRAD (Ram Air) and the gist of it came to there being no appreciable benefit at normal street speeds.  Maybe he can stop by to clarify on things here :dunno_white:

hmmm thats ghey I though it would accommodate the dual cans really well oh well. good thing I asked first

oh make no mistake there's always a measureable difference...though not often enough to make it worth having sorted out and done.

I had a 98 GSXR750SRAD The only time the ram air took affect was from highway speeds and above. The pressure started building up in the box, faster than the carbs could handle it,at around 45mph.It's one of those things trying to build parasitic power to gain a tenth of a horsepower.

ohgood

get a junk yard vmax tunnel ? those things are huge scoops, just one would be enough.

i think you're right about it being a bear to jet right. you'd have low speed, no ram air, high speed, a little ram air, fast fast = lots of ram air..... and only two sets of jets to get it right.

not saying it can't be done, but with the gs's finicky carbs... ok ok , just do it, make a tutorial, and give us some sound clips :D

do some research for your self

Kawasaki heavy industries builds airplanes......and they figured out ram air about first

old 90's brit bike mags had several articles
PB or superbike????
real noticeable effect was above 125 if i remember
and it has alot to do with a HUGE air box, smooth tubes, sound waves and pressure waves not canceling out the air charge

ever notice that in the 70's-80's everybody installed pods......and in the 90's they installed better air box filters   the air box is beneficial

tussey's characters must have all sucked.
