Redo the forum?

This is just a suggestion i know im new to this forum but i live on RS25.com

personally general diss is a huge cluster of stuff.

make some new subforums

maybe have

powertrain
wheels/tires
brakes and suspension
troubleshoot
body work
will it fit
pictures/vid
story times

im just getting into GS500s and its hard to read threw and find what info on things im looking for. the FAQ i good but i just want to look at motor work sometimes and its a pain to find information on it with out searching for very detailed things and im looking for the big picture

plus sometimes there is 2 pages of posts from one day

Good suggestions.    I agree with most of it, and I hope that recent discussions have gotten the mods thinking about reorganization.

I would prefer "Troubleshoot," "will it fit, " and "pictures/vid" posts placed in the area to which they are related.  For example engine troubleshooting posts would belong in Powertrain.  Electrical troubleshooting in Electrical and Lighting, etc.

My list would look like:
Powertrain
Wheels and Tires
Brakes and Suspension
Electrical and Lighting
Body Work and Seats
Trip Reports
For Sale/Trade
Meet and Greet
Odds and Ends
Test
Tard Farm

Move FAQS and sticky posts into the area to which they relate, with a WIKI link in each category.

The search function works fine if you know the right questions to ask.

Yea, not to bash you but you are a but new to suggest changes to the site. I think its fine the way it is

I understand your suggestions and they are completely valid. At some point in time the amount of information here will require some rework. This is the General Discussion area and as such technical items tend to get tangled up in the hum-drum and silly at times.

The GS Wiki is a little more pointed to subject matter though it does require someone to sift through the general posts and link back to them. The FAQs are targeted to subject matter though they are made by the moderators (from outstanding general posts BTW).

If you have the time, motivation, and skillz, perhaps you could make a page that targets the GSTwin posts by subject matter as you suggest?

Is is a free site so nothing here should be a copyright issue -- unless someone posts copyrighted material.  That, of course, never happens in internetworld.

its just some ideas it just sucks to go threw one secontion with tons of random stuff. storys of ride troubleshooting will this fit post.  its just not any fun to just cruz threw and read post

just because the forum kind of works the way it is doesn't mean that it couldn't be better. I've been a member of many forums, and one in particular split apart like that. I was opposed to the change at first, but after a week or two, I wouldn't go back. It would definitely be a boost for the forum. Boy it sure would be nice if it was switched over to VBulletin - much easier to follow and read - and many more features than this current board setup.

I'd say its time for a change too.  Its a good forum, and low post count daily so its easy to follow things, but for people looking for info, it would definitely help.

ya i hope nobady gets the feeling like im trying to join up and throw piles of changes at if cause im currently fighting on RS25 to keep if from changing but i think all the changes that are being made are far from helpfull.  and all that seems to be changing is collors and pulling out sweet fetures and changing the classified system eventho the majority vote has been not to change it the new site owner owns i think 9 sites now and is just trying to make money off them and that allso gets on my nerves

The software was upgraded in Dec 2005/Jan 2006, I believe it was a forced upgrade. With the problems then, I doubt you will see a change. I see nothing wrong with the layout except for the default black skin, which I do not use.

There are plenty of posts in the wrong forums now. I would hate to see where new topics get started with more forums... more work for the mods to clean them up.

you're always going to have morons on a forum, but I hardly think it would be more work. If it's too much of a load, add a mod. Just split the 'General GS500 Discussion' into:

Technical Info
Appearance Mods
Performance Mods

it's not overly complicated, and would make forum navigation and finding info so much easier.

Search is there for Threads u really want to see , Just use Keywords and it will come up , there are posts that are years and years old , and u have easy find them to solve a problem

how about search for pics of modded bikes to get an idea and schem up a goal for my new bike?

or see common reacuring problems

or if i just feel like reading about peoples rides or funny trip storyies what do i search for to read about interesting and amusing ride storyies?

and what about mods that i don't know you can even do.  what do i search for? "things i don't know about my bike"? i got a feeling that will come up pretty short

also by that logic all your clothes in your room should be in one box.  why sort it out? just search threw it when you need somthing its all there

Well if u want to explain to the police why i dont have any clothes on , and i say , well i didnt want to have to search for something to wear , id prefer it to be handed to me , then thats fine.

also notice that the people who don't mind it to all be in one pile are people who have been here for a while AKA they don't need the pile that much.  the newer people to the forum who havn't read the whole pile have no place to start to read the pile.

you being naked isn't the problem there were lots of cloths you just didn't take the time to search threw it all.  just as i don't see why it makes sence for me to flip threw years of post to find pictures of bikes to see what colors i like and what mods have been done
