Has anyone modificed their dogbones (i.e. drilled holes) to decrease the ride height instead of buying new ones?

Thinking about doing this, and just wanted to see if anyone has and their thoughts?

Lowering the bike requires longer dogbones.

407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average. Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.
