Big Shot

Hey guys, i call dibs on that.  It's about 10 minutes away so i can avoid the shipping charge.

And while we're on the subject, can someone show me a pic of a stock one and a modified one by Bob?  I'd like to see the difference...

Thanks, Bob!

Hey Bob,

I'm sure someone else will be able to post or direct you to some photos, but I also have some pictures somewhere. I won't be able to post until Sunday though; since the auction is going past that, it shouldn't be a problem.

However, it's going for $25, shipped right now. Don't know how high it'll go for but I'd rather go with Bob B's ignition advancer job.  :thumb:

I threw my rotor in a self-addressed, paid envelope and then threw that in a mailing envelope to Bob with $20 (even though he only asks for $5). Less than $30 total. Having actually seen his garage and tools, this man knows his sh*t. I've been using mine for over six months now and there are others who have probably been using theirs for years.

PM or email Bob and find out what his turnaround is right now. I know you don't want your bike to be down for long.

I'll get those photos up later this weekend, if others haven't beat me to it. :)

Well like he said hes local so wouldnt need shipping, but Id imagine it will get up there.

Sorry I dont think I took pics of mine pre and post Bob, but same here - tossed mine in a box and shipped it the couple hours north with a $20 in there and had it back in 5 days I think - hes quick.

Here is a comparison I just put together of the ignition advancers.

Common sense in not very common.

Wowee D, you have some serious photography skills. Some of kerry's function has been carried on by you. Yea and starwalt too. That was simply beautiful.

It is advanced to 17 degrees, up from 12 degrees for the 49 states and up from 5 degrees on the CA models.

The Vance & Hines Ignition Advancer is one of the best and cheapest performance mods you can make to the GS500e as it is easy to install and makes a noticeable difference in performance.  The average price is around $45.  What this part does is help the GS500 make more power at low rpm which translates to less stalls starting off and more useable power at cruising rpm.   You feel the bike accelerate harder from a stop and notice no power drop at higher rpm.

Some people argue that this part makes the gs500 lose power at top rpm (maybe 1 or 2 hp) but I have not been able to tell and have only noticed better power and more fun.   This is a must do mod along with adding a performance exhaust (full or slip on) and a jet kit (Dynojet or Factory).  You can install this part on a stock GS without any exhaust or carburetion changes.

BUT

If you have an F, it has a different rotor. I am not sure if Bob can mod them. I thought I read that he has, but best to contact him first.

Interesting:  This is a reluctor (sensor triggering device) that has it's crank engagement locating pin moved to a more advanced location.  When I looked on EBAY by your link, I saw a centrifugal advancer for a GS 500 which I bought immediately.  Somewhere back in history, the GS 500 or similar Suzuki must have had a centrifugal advancer (and possibly breaker point ignition?)?

You do realize you just replied to a thread who's last post was 6 1/2 YEARS ago, right?!

Oh wait, I just did the same thing...lol
