Hey guys,

Season is about to start and one of the things I'd like to check is the tire psi...

Is there somewhere on the bike or tire that tells you the optimal tire pressure?

yeah, on the sidewall of the tire
different brands suggest different pressures..... usually only a few # difference from one another

front 33 psi rear 36 psi or 41 psi if you are carrying a passenger or a heavy load on the back, as stated from the sticker on the swingarm of my 2007.  The numbers on the sidewall are the max psi for the tire itself, not nescisarily the optimal tire pressure for the vehicle in question.

i would check the side wall on the tire.  if the tires have been changed then the sticker on the swing arm is no good.

The side of the tire only tells you max pressure. Don't use it. Use the number under the seat on the shiny sticker or in the manual if you've got one...

Im with critter on this one as the haynes manual i have states the same aswell, doesnt matter if the tyre has been changed if it is the same size as the standards then you go with the suggested tyre pressure for that bike not by the pressure guides on the tyre. so right now i am running 33 (f) and 36(r) and it is perfect for one up riding.

you can check all the tags on the bike or manual but if anything has been change they will do you no good.  im not going to run stock GS PSI if im running a katana rear wheel and a 160 rear tire.

Guys, why is there any disagreement over stock tire pressures?  It's in the manual!  33 psi front and 36-41 psi for the rear, depending on how fat you and your girlfriend are!

Josh, I'm not sure what the best pressure for your 160 rear would be, but I would estimate it's about 28 psi riding alone or 32 psi with a passenger since your rear tire is 23% wider than stock.  I would be interested to know what that right pressure is.  You'll know after paying attention to how it rides and wears.

its over 200 pages it take a while to download.  i think mine took 15 mins or so.  i was like whys this taking so long then i opened it and i said damn thats a big file.

yea got it to work....just had to wait for it...even then its for the older years....but im sure the basics are similar for my 2007 500F?
Otherwise...know where to get one like this for my 07 500F?

1) anything is pretty darn all encompasing. so if i change my oil the pressure tags are wrong ? ;)

2) this isn't relative to a gstwinner asking for a tag location of the proper tar pressure :)

so, how did you decide what to run ? the sidewall of the tar ? oh man. please say no. the tar manufacturer has no idea what bike you put it on. none. and then you get to swapping wheels AND tars onto another bike.

just saying, it was a simple answer :)

right now they are set at whatever they put in when they mouted them.  I havent messed with them yet.  but no i will not be running tire pressure on the sidewall of the tire.  as for your simple answer its only simple if it would have been stated that it was a completely stock tire wheel setup but with nothing to go on I didnt think telling him to go with tire pressure off the tag under the set was the best answer.  As for my pressure in the rear with my setup im still not sure what to run in it yet.  whats the best way for me to figure it out since i cant go off sidewall numbers or tag numbers. :dunno_black:

Hey Mary, I got the supplementary manual from you couple months ago (thanks again!).....but was looking for the full service manual for an 07 gs500f......i think 04+ is same
Hopefully it'll leak from someone sometime soon

You could just buy it. It will save you money the first time it stops you from doing something wrong and messing up whatever you were working on.
