why dont you try and use a univarsal oil cooler from jegs, summit, or any parts store. if my cooler ever goes out i plan on getting a larger universal one and making it fit, it should cool the oil better and there cheap and plentiful. even ebay has some.
Yeah, but, the GS isn't very liable to overheat. I've ridden one at 120F for hours and it's been fine. In traffic, I myself get tired of the heat and pull off the road before it complains. So I don't think an oil cooler is that important, esp. if the bike is naked.

Of course, this is all my evidence, which is 100% anecdotal and not backed by any hard numbers. Ymmv...

I agree you prolly dont need one but if someone wanted one, a universal one is cheaper and better than stock

I might end up doing that, but I had to get the bike on the road and the only universal one I found required special fittings.

When I removed my oil filter I noticed a hole above the spot where the oil filter nounts.

It looked like a restrictor.

It looks as if it could be un-screwed with a hex key.

Is this the restrictor that has to be removed if you ditch the oil cooler?

dgyver

Common sense in not very common.
