[rant]  So, I head out for about a two-hour jaunt today.  All geared up, and as usual my wife is all concerned.  "Do you have your phone?" she asks.  "Yes," I reply.  Phone, wallet, and swiss army knife zipped in there respective pockets, I head out.

It was a nice ride in beautiful weather.  I had to take quite a few detours due to the damaged roads from the June 7th flooding here in Indiana.  I ended up on many county roads that I probably couldn't find again if I tried.  After nearly two hours of riding I head back into town.  I went to get my phone to check the time and find, to my dismay, that my pocket is now unzipped, and my phone is gone.  F%$k!

I lost my Motorola Razr.  Now, I know that the reviews on that phone are mixed, but I loved it.  It was a hacked Verizon model.  I had it set up just the way that I wanted it.  Totally unlocked.  Free wireless internet, USB file transfer capabilities, mobile wireless modem, etc.   This sucks!  Worse yet, Verizon no longer carries the Razr.  They only have the Razr2.  Now I'm scanning ebay and google for Verizon razr V3m phones, and I'm using my four year old (read, Dinosaur) motorola V260 phone.

This turned out to be a very inconvenient and possibly expensive ride.   :flipoff: [/rant]

Sorry, I know people out there have real problems, and mine is really pretty petty, but this still pisses me off.

My Razr (Spring model...  I think the V3m) SUCKS ASS!!!

YEsterday, I couldn't even do ANYTHING...  I would take the battery out to shut it off...  a couple minutes later, I put it back in and turn it on.  When it finished booting up, I couldn't do a single thing...  like it was frozen...  the ONLY action it was still 'usable' was when I pressed the volume down button, the whole screen would turn WHITE.

UGH

Piece of shite phone...  and I'm stuck with it for another 7 months.  CRAP

I ran over my Tracfone with the forklift a while back and obliterated it.

A new one at Wally World is $12.   ;)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

It's not Wifi, per se.  You can set it up to use as a wireless modem.  It hooks up through your usb, and you use it to 'dial up'.  The bandwidth is much faster than regular dial up, but slower than dsl or cable.  Anywhere you get a wireless signal, I can (could) hook my laptop to my phone and get on the internet.  Check out this razr hacking site if you are interested.

I actually rather prefer ATT to other carriers I've used.  I've been home almost an hour and really should get some sleep, but I can't stop downloading Apps and playing with them!!!  BTW, I got the 16gb in black.   Not much to review yet, but the GPS is a very nice touch to the overall package.

yeah where i'm at the only provider that you will get service most of the time with is Verizon.  I like the I-Phone but wouldn't switch to AT&T to get it cause I actually like to be able to call people with my cell .  When they finally get picked up by other providers I may get one, for the time being I am very pleased with my Voyager.

On another note I do love that the new I-Phone is coming with real GPS and not triangulation :thumb:

You'll be waiting a while for another carrier to offer the iphone, ATT and Apple still have almost 4 years on contract for sole distribution rights.   The GPS is awesome, I watched the little blue dot follow my route as I drove home.  It is very precise.  The games and other apps offered are awesome.  Super Monkey Ball is a whole new experience using the iphone's accelerometer.
3G is currently not available in my area but I'm going to a city that does have it later today and will post review of it's performance.  Overall I believe the phone is a little lighter, probably due in part to the plastic casing instead of metal.

3G is everything I expected. Posting from it right now and have downloaded apps over the 3g connection without a problem.

Yeah, yama, $200 is just obscene for a 3g phone with GPS, full web browsing, a UI leaps and bounds ahead of any of it's competitors and a tried and proven media platform :cookoo:

Anyway, I'm loving it.  I've downloaded a TON of apps, all of which work great.  The GPS works flawlessly and 3g is WAY better than Edge.
BP, we may not agree on phone, but I think we can both agree that having to go back to a 'normal' cell phone would be like torture.

I use my phone for everything. We travel by foot alot when on vacation use public transport etc so having google maps available on the phone is a real bonus having a all in one solution.

Most hotels charge for in room high speed internet, I just use my phone since I pay for unlimited wireless data access use it to get directions look up stuff I want to do download it all to my phone and boom were good to go. In an emergency I can even VPN into my office on my phone. Solves problems in matters of moments instead of hours I look like a hero and my vacation plans do not get noticeably impacted.

Pretty much the same here.  I figure if I'm paying for unlimited data I might as well use it.  I usually end up using about 1.5gb per billing cycle, it'll be interesting to see if I use more with it being faster.
As I type I'm syncing 2 new episodes of 'Wild boyz' and a game to my phone :icon_rolleyes:  With the 3g and GPS the iphone has made one more step into the 'everything in one' category.

Edit: I just checked to see what exactly the 8525 was.  A dude I worked with used to watch porn on his at work............we worked at a strip club :cookoo: :cookoo:  A few months after I left he came out of the closet

getting the new samsung instinct myself.  It'll do everything I want it to do and more.  Its not an iphone and isn't trying to be before anyone says anything.  I really dig it.

i agree with you. BUT to get that, id have to break my contract. ( not willing to do), 2 at&t service is rather spotty around here, so no cost savings there. there are otehr 3g phones i can get, on my sprint plan ( which is not great, but better than at&t atm. so ill wait. and its a bit mroe than 200 Sooooooooo, not worth it :thumb:
