carb troubles, I think??

I am unfortunately going to have to put my 94 gs500 in the shop.  It seems that the bike is running very rough.  One minute it will barely idle at all and the next minute it will red line.  Usually, even if it is idling very high, it will go down when I let off of the clutch.  When I am through gears, same thing, sometimes it idles very high and sometimes very low.  I thought maybe the carbs were dirty so, I took the fuel tank off and took the caps of the tops of each carb.  the vaccum hose that runs from the bottom of the fuel tank to the center between the two carbs connectng it to them is missing.  The diaphram seems to be misshapen and the slides are not moving smoothly.  I tried to take out the piston slide and spray carb cleaner into it, but still the same problems.  Before I go and have the carbs cleaned and some of the parts on it changed, could this be something else?  Also, does anyone know where I can find cheap parts for the carb or know where I can find another carb that I can get perts of off.  Thanks

Try posting in the for sale/wtb/trade Area. I am sure you will be able to find your carb parts there. Has the bike been sitting for a while? Old gas? Have you tried Seafoam?

I tried the spray carb cleaner, but I am not skilled enough to take the whole carb apart and soak it.  It sat since last year.

I have carb parts (with some reservation here cos I sold a lot of em recently) and can clean and rejet the carbs if you like.
$45 for clean and rejet (parts and labor), $10 for O rings labor included and cleaning, drilling or other parts cost a bit more. usually $5 or less for a good used part, $5 for a soak type clean, and $5 for anythign needing drilling out with the exception of brass caps on air screws.
$45 and up and it will be jetted to run with your set up. BTW even a stock bike needs to be rejetted. Add shipping to all $ and turnaround is 1-2 weeks depending on how much soaking is needed to clean it. I've seen carbs I cant even take apart without a cleaning. If that bad figure 1 week to get it off and maybe one more week to get it cleaned.
