No, I don't think so.  The 170/60 RoadAttack is sized for a 4.5" rim so you only went 1/2" below the preferred rim size same as we do when we put a 150 on our 3.5" standard wheels.  I ran a 150/70 RoadAttack on my 3.5" rim and thought it was great.

The RoadAttack was a good choice of a 170/60 tire for your 4.0" rim.  Many of the other 170/60 and 170/70 tires are sized for a 5.0" preferred rim width including the Roadsmart, Z6, Diablo, and Pilot Power.  I wouldn't put those on a 4.0" rim, maybe on a 4.5" rim but that makes them an even tighter squeeze on the GS.

Others may disagree.   :)
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Everything looks great, but looking at that close up of the tire, is doesn't look like you could ever get to the edge. It's almost vertical on the outside. Unless it's just the pics.

The tire does not look like its pinched. But yes the edges are near vertical like he said. You prolly wont wear to the edge, but wont have any trouble.
Cool.

Does anyone have any side by side pics of rear changes whist on this matter i.e. from a 130/70 to a 140 and is it worth the small jump??  That would be all I am into doing i.e. I dont want to swap rear wheels, no pinching, no madness...just a BIT of a fatter assed rear tyre using stock, 17" wheels... :thumb:

I am fitting a 180 on mine, and I am using a 4.5 wide wheel ... Its gonna be fat. However this is on the GR motor equipped bike which has the nut on the countershaft. Offset sprokets - no problem.
