Okay i have a sv650 rear wheel and im trying to fit it and from what i understand i pull out the bearings on the sv wheel and put my gs bearings in. So how do i pull the bearings and can someone go over my list and see if i missed anythin

1 remove gs wheel
2 remove bot wheels bearings
3 install gs bearings in sv wheel
4 install gs sprocket carrier on sv wheel
5 retain sv brake rotor
6 install sv wheel by bending brake arm

Uh...how wide is the SV wheel? oh, wait. If I remember correctly it's the same as the 98-02 Kat rear wheel? Can someone comfirm? If so then all you have to do is use the cushdrive from the gs wheel and sprocket and bolt it up. As long as there is a 150 on there the only mod you should have to do is bend the brake arm. Now alot of naysayers will make you walk the plank for this but you can use the gs caliper stay but most will tell you to get a Kat one. Do as you wish. I am 1.5 years after my swap and have no issues to boot. Enjoy

SV had a 20mm axle, GS has 17mm axle, as did the 98+ kat.
You have to knock the bearings out from the SV buy new bearings - you cannot reuse bearings you knock out - in the GS sizes and press them in.
Cool.

You need to use a drift thru the bearing on the opposite side and hammer the bearing out.A 160 is very tricky. You may have to space the sprocket carrier to keep the chain from rubbing the tire.DO NOT SPACE THE SPROCKET CARRIER MORE THAN 3.5mm.It may require the swing arm to be spread open a little for everything to fit.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

how do i hit the bearing from the opposite side when there is that spacer in the middle. Forgive me ive never done this before

dgyver

I will hit one of the bearing inner races to push the opposite side bearing out just slightly. Insert the drift punch through the spacer to the opposite bearing. Angle the punch and push the spacer to the side. This will gain a little surface area on the bearing. One side of the wheel has more room to push the spacer off center, due to its casting. I do not recall which side. You will need to tap in a circular pattern to remove the bearing.
Common sense in not very common.
