I can't get ahold of anybody who can help me with some quesiotns I have about the course.

-Do I need to hold my permit for 30 before I can register, or just before the day of my first class?
-Can I pay with a debit card at TNCC(Thomas Nelson Community College) or do I need cash?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

I doubt anyone here will be able to help you with these questions. Try calling VA DMV or TNCC

Here I think this is what you're looking for http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/citizen/drivers/motorcycle.asp  As far as payment goes I believe that's up to the individual motorcycle school you would have to find their website or phone number.

Ive already gone through all of that. TNCC didnt know a damn thing. They kept redirecting me to the same number I called before I called them.

your "permit"? Like.... regular driver's license or MC license? The MSF course is designed for noobs and gets you out of taking the DMV test to GET your MC license. The idea is you won't have it before the class, though some people do already and may have for years of course.

I have my permit. I just havent held it for 30 days. I DO NOT have my license. My question is Do I have to hold my permit for 30 days before I can register for classes, or 30 days before the first day of class. Thanks.

How long ago was that? The website says you have to have a learners??? Looks like Im going to Va. Beach to score some boots from Cycle World.

Sorry about that.  I was trying to kinda make sense of how their system works and what your question was.  What Mdow said makes sense based on the DMV website.  You shouldn't need a learners license for the MSF.

For the record I hate the bastards at TNCC! I just got off of a 10 hour shift overnight at target and now I have to go 30 minutes to Hampton to ask them a simple question! Screw this, I need a drink.

Well I applied online, but it looks like I'm still going to have to go up there tomorrow to register and pay them. We'll see how that goes. I will be starting class in the beginning of September if all goes well! Wish me luck!

I guess the MSF state chapters are different and/or state laws vary.  I've had my cycle endorsement for many years, but several years ago I took our WVa MSF course with my son.  He DID have to have a MC learner's permit, but no stipulation as to how long he had to have it.  I recently took it again with my daughter and same deal here in WVa.  If  you go to the national MSF site they list the state chapters and have phone numbers for the info lines.  I registered and paid through the national online site by credit card.  Oddlyl two participants did show-up with expired MC learner's and they were NOT allowed to take the class.  There were some there with valid learner's permits for MC that had never ridden a MC before the class.  Two of those four people washed-out of class.
