So here I am,

At work,

30 minutes after closing,

40 miles from home,

Waiting for someone to come rescue me because I pushed the key all the way to the parking light instead of just to lock after lunch.   :icon_twisted:

*sigh*

I can tell it's just an almost dead battery, it tries -oh- so valiantly to go, but it just doesn't have quite enough to go, and I know that sound all to well.  So I'm going to waste all of your time as well listening to me whine since it'll take another 20 minutes for someone to get here and help me out.

Got a hill? You might be able to bump start if there's enough juice to run the ignition.

(Edit: moved stuff about my different problem to a new thread)
1990 GS500EL - with moderately-ugly paintjob.
1982 XJ650LJ -  off the road for slow repairs

Unfortunately I did not have a hill to bump start it.  Not that I didn't try anyway and failed miserably.  I got a rescue jump and then all was well.  Now... to find and tear out watever wire makes the parking light function work.  *cackles evily*

You could always get aftermarket bars that don't allow you to turn to full lock and engage the steering lock... That's how my bike is set up. I have a dent on each side where the bar crashes into the tank if I turn it really far, but at least my battery doesn't get drained by the parking light...

oR... You can simply disconnect the parking light function
