You may as well buy a whole new style F motor... You would have to drill and tap the motor

I was wondering why you would need one too? The faster you go the hotter the motor, but the more air to cool it. Also its open on the sides and open to the air, exposing all fins to the ambient air when sitting in traffic. The brains at suzuki probably would have put one on the 89-03 :dunno_white: had it needed it, Right?

yeah i know it prob doesnt need it but it cant hurt unless its wat too much time to do it but i do go into nyc alot and it will help in traffic so im kinda in the middle of my choice im leaning twards not doing one but i havent decided yet...

Hi there,
You don't need an oil cooler.
Use quality oil, change it every 3000 miles with a new Suzuki filter, and do the other regularly scheduled maintenance, like valve adjustments every 4000 miles.
An air-cooled engine is designed to run in traffic and whatever else you throw at it.
Yes, they get hot, but they are thermally designed to take it. That's why they're called "air-cooled."
Take care of it and it will take care of you.
Good luck, and have fun with it.

Actually, it can hurt. Specifically, it violates the KISS principle - Keep It Simple, Stupid. It's not only a great deal of fuss and bother to install, "buddy's" opinion aside, it's also a whole lot of opportunities for leaks that are not there if you don't do it. Especially if you do a hack job of putting it in, rather than using a late-model F motor. Run your present motor until it dies. If you last that long, then replace it with an '04+ F motor. I bet you don't make it to the end of your non-cooler-equipped engine's life before you move on for other reasons. And if you do, you can shop for an F motor and tell us how you were right all along. You need various matching electrics if you get a late-model motor. You could just get the whole bike...
