k guys, ive got an XTM x-terminator 1/8 scale 4wd buggy, witha  fresh engine. hella nice compression, which runs beautifully btw. HOWEVER. before i take it out on teh track. or to play with, can any of ya recommend a good failsafe unit?

something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Venom-FailSafe-Fail-Safe-VNR0620_W0QQitemZ360073200876QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360073200876&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318 cause eventually im going to put this thing up for sale. BUT i wanna enjoy it for a lil bit first. and i dont want interference, or other issues making this car become a minor missile :nono:

yes that will work, though I recommend a cheaper ofna failsafe.

many thanks ive got this one on my watch list, hell i almost ordered a supercharger for this engine lol  :icon_lol:, but first things first, i need to get teh front a arm fixed. PO had broken it, during the cars only run, i fired teh engine the other day at a friends house, and damn i wanna drive it, BUT im going to wait until i get a failsafe. until then, ill use my rc-10. damn i realised ive got too much rc crap lol. i might jsut sell it all. meh who knows lol

That looks a lot like my redcat tornado and my fail safe is a spring that closes the throttle if it looses signal.  Not as good as an actual fail safe cause a rouge signal could still take it away but if it looses signal it just stops.

hell ill be damned, but eyah i want a drop the throttle/apply the brakes failsafe. cause many of our runs take place wihtin an occupied car dealership lol, so a runaway car would be bad  :nono:

sounds good!  But beware the supercharger for these engines I hear dont work very well as in not a big power increase.  But its a big cool factor

Yeah runaways are bad when cars are involved even though most of the time it will run under and get stuck

As far as power have you geared it down, I went from the stock 15t bell housing on mine to a 13t and holy hell there was a big difference.  Then the truggy conversion   Now i am lucky to get two good runs without having to replace something

damn you must run them hard. I have a skatepark near by and used to run my ofna buggy there....jumping it off the quarter pipes...biggest one we have is 5' high and I'd jump it at full speed...clocked just shy of 50mph....good 20'+...broke a few a-arms learning but aftler keepong the shineyside up never broke anything...also learned that if you hit the quarterpipe at 3/4 throttle and gun it last second you can do backflips and kinda level it out with the break after the flip.

natedawg120

Yeah I rarely run at the scate park around here, there are alway people there.  I typically run off road and the majority of my braking things are servo savers and steering bits, the ground isn't the best.  Right now i need to replace the stock servo saver, it is a L-shape with a spring mashing two V cylinders together to absorb jars however i have rounded the v's off and now the steering will lock up full left or right depending on which wheel gets the bump; I've epoxied it together for now though

worst repair bill I had from the skatepark was $166...cliped a rail in mid air with the front left a-arm and ripped that corner of my buggy to shreads....never ran it at the skate park after that

Also has anyone notices that these little RC's attract the weirdest little kids, it my be my location but you would think they wouldn't just walk up to a complete stranger and want to play with their toy.  I always ask them where their parents are and drive the buggy by them, then they see that their little shaZam! is bugging me as I give said kid the don't leave your parents to go 'play' with a complete stranger talk.  If nothing else they leave then or just stand there and stare at the controller...

The flip side being when a parent and a kid approach me, depending on age and intuition have been know to let them drive around on the softball field for a little, constantly being out of gas can be a good thing

Man go with the new Spektrum radios, they have failsafes built in and you never have to worry about frequincy issues at the track again. I have them and it has been a joy to work on my car in the pits and not worry abut if anyone has my freq. well worth the money.

yeah ive read into those. may look into it. but as of now ive got a hair over 100 in teh car and all the extra crap that came with it, 2 gal nitro, 3 engines, 2 radios, 4 recievers, 6 sets of crystals, 4 glow igniters, and some screws , TBH it may be cheaper for me to invest in a $ 10 failsafe, versus a new radio. ( but tehy ARE nice and worth it btw ) O0

Yeah its somethng to save for. Go for the OFNA unit, in my experience, the dynamite unit is trash, the traxxas unit works great as well and the Futaba unit is the best but also very expensive.
