Hey guys I just got my new afam 18 tooth sprocket. I finished installing it. WOW talk about disgusting crud build up I had to use a screwdriver to scroop the sludge out of the front sprocket area. Also looks like it bought my chain a little more time. Now instead of 2 tick marks to the end it is now 2 tick marks from the beginning. The chain isn't badly worn, since it still fits tightly over the sprocket and I get no more than 1/8 of a link of pull from the back of the rear sprocket, I know to change it when you get about a 14 link of pull. Original still looks pretty good too. Well tomorrow I'll fill up post my findings about this higher gearing in about 3 days. Yes I cover that much distance. in that short a time with my long commute. Hears hoping for 70 mpg.

Can we get an update on this 18 tooth. Where did you get it? I commute 45 miles each way every night, and would like to hear the results.

Chanse, i just replied on the other sprocket thread. I have a 17 I fitted about 3 commutes ago (70 miles each way, freeway) and I really like it for cruising around 110 kph/70mph. I would even consider the 18 next time. I don't ride hard (usually) and it gets off the line plenty fast enough, is more relaxed cruising and a little more economical although I haven't tested that objectively.

Cool. I need to go up but I didnt really want to go to the 18 because someone I know said they had fittment issues like it rubbing or something when the chain stretches. I wouldnt mind finding a smaller rear but, I have yet to find anything smaller than the stock 39 maybe theres a shop out there that can cut me one. I  use my gs for a work commute, 40 mile each way so from the time I leave my house till I get to work Im doin 70 to 80 on the interstate. I'd like to get my revs down to about 5k or 5500...

The bike is doing a little under 6000 at 70mph with 17 tooth, but thats GPS speed! The speedo is indicating 80 at 6000. If you've got a 17 coming, try that first and see how it goes. You won't need to change the chain.
