I just hate how I look for parts and no one seems to have this particular part available for an 06 gs500f, Im sure the RU 2970 would fit an 06, but it never seems to be listed as an application.  If you guys could offer some assurance, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You!  I imagine I just need to grab a couple hose clamps to complete an installation, and the smaller filter for unburnt fuel/air is not needed right? If I understand the wiki correctly.

no clamps needed i have one on my 04 as well.  I did get one of those small breather filters for the one hose it was under $10 and is probably better than using a rag.

don't have a part number for the filter i just went to a local autozone and they had them sitting on the shelf.  Just go to a local autoparts store and ask and they will probably have some lying around.

You do NOT need anything but a screwdriver for installation  :thumb:
Everything is supplied with the filter.

RU-2970 is the filter number. I got it directly from K&N Website, decent price and extremely fast delivery.

What would be the benefits of velocity stacks if any at all?

they keep the air flow smooth and moving so more can go in in the same amount of time with less resistance, basically more power. but they are expensive and not made (that I know of) for the gs. and even on most sport bikes they're only worth a few (Ive seen 1-3whp) horse power so on a gs they might give 1/2hp.

only if you have done all other mods including lunchbox, full exhaust, rejet, and timing advance would the v-stacks be something to look into. otherwise youll be spending major coinage for little gain. heck they might even require a rejet.

well, I have a jet kit, full exhaust and putting on the lunchbox. Debating about the timing advance, but it seems the advancing of an 06 hasn't really been engineered.

Its very easy. just remove the ignition cover on left side of bike, hint: it says "SUZUKI" then remove the pick-up, the rotor, and the plate. then grind the holes in the plate so you can rotate it 4mm counterclockwise. then reinstall. TADA! youve just added 5* timing for free in about 20 min.
That is exactly what I did, and I played with the timing while dyno tuning my carbs. the engine liked to run a 12.5:1afr with +6* of timing.

Just to save some extra work... it's on the right side, not left.
I did this over the winter, hope to try it out when the snow melts!
