ok i am from have a 2007 gs500f that i bought brand new in may as my first bike, it has been great with no problems. BUT, with 2300 miles on it i got pulled out on in a parking lot which i might have been going to fast for the lot. But anyways i put it down on the left side. everything is still in tact without cracks or breaks, just scrapped up a bunch. What do you all suggest i do? (new plastics, new paint and decals, keep as is which i do not want to do, etc.)

Also with knowing about the rash on the front and tail fairings and the milaege how much do you think i could get for it as is.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your crash :(

You could always remove the fairings and convert to an E-model. A quick search will provide lots of related info.

you seem to be asking both... should I sell it? How much to fix it?

What is it you want to do?

Minor rash = sell bike?  :cookoo:

My, what a disposable attitude. Fine, you can get $5 for it, if you deliver it to my door, cause it's not shiny and new. I'll make sure to get a shiny new $5 bill so you won't feel sad like you would with 500 grubby used $1 bills.

Keep as is might make sense, as you'll probably rash it up again if you have that little riding experience, and frankly you'd do better to spend the time riding than making it pretty so that you'll cry when it gets rashed again. But you don't wanna. Wait for winter, at least - and put a few thousand more miles on it while growing some skin over your easily bruised ego (O M G someone will see that I DROPPED my bike if I ride it like this - The embarrassment!!!)

Fine. Learn how to use body putty (or filled epoxy, if you prefer) and sandpaper and primer and paint. That's a lot cheaper than new plastic. While you are at it, add some body sliders AKA fairing savers. And strip the decals off the right side - decals are way overpriced, and both sides might as well match.

...there are two kids of riders - those that have been down, and those that will be. Welcome to the first kind, but do try to have a grain of common sense about MINOR COSMETIC DAMAGE.

I agree with Dod.  I have seen many bikes from 250 Ninjas to CBR's with a little rash on the side.  Look at it this way it adds character.  People will see in it a parking lot and think, Man he pushed that thing to the edge.  I have also seen many bikes that look great without decals take Chef's for example

It looks great.  If the rash isn't too deep they make spot bondo that costs about 2 bucks.  Pack the scratches full and sand smooth when it dries.  A little paint and no one will know.
