GS500 engine removal (without a jack?)

So, I dont' have a fancy jack.  I've already drained the oil out of the GS500 engine and removed the bolts (and that piece of the frame.  What is the best way to nudge the engine out if I don't have a jack with wheels on it?  (Preferably without crushing my fingers!)

I have done it horizontal. Lay it on an old mattress on right and remove all bolts. Then lift it a wee bit and get the removable frame section. Then as you lift the bike, push the engine down ... it moves ~1/4 inch and flops on its left.
I have fit it that way too. Vertical was much much harder. I have fit a GR motor the same way too ... but its easier than the GS cos the GR is narrower side to side and shorter front to back.
Cool.

I don't have an old mattress, nor do I have room to lay the bike on its side.   I guess I'll have to become inventive tomorrow.
