A GS500 side panel won't cause most trucks to high center

Last Friday was a wonderful night.  Almost a month ago I purchased an eyesore of a GS500 with bad brakes, a buzzing tank, leaking forks and an electrical system that didn't work.  On Friday that bike achieved the lofty title of fully functioning eyesore.  Let me better describe this wonderful eyesore of mine.  The right side plastic is cracked, and is missing the tab for the hex bolt that screws into the frame.  The tail center piece is missing.  The tank is dented, and the front turn signals are held together with scotch tape.  For you aftermarket junkies, I upgraded to high performance packing tape.  Back to last Friday, I took my mechanically sound ugly stick out for a ride.

At about 70 MPH, I felt something give my right leg a love tap.  Chupacabra sightings are rare in San Diego, so I immediately eliminated that from my list of possible thigh caressers.  Besides, chupacabras aren't known for being so tawdry...except for that famous one in Tijuana.  The packing tape on my turn signals was high performance, so I knew a turn signal lense couldn't have been the culprit.  A visual inspection at the next stoplight verified that it was not infact a chupacabra, but the right side plastic that had emotionally and physically detached itself from the bike.

Fast forward a couple of u-turns and I'm standing on the side of the road staring at my highly independent side plastic.  The only thing preventing me from retrieving my emotionally and physically scarred plastic was a single oncoming vehicle.  Fortunately this vehicle had bright lights, so I knew the driver would see my target.  Unfortunately, there were lots of bright lights, and they were high off the ground.  Yes, this was a raised pickup truck, the official vehicle of the San Diego jerk.  7 seconds and one lane change later, I learned a shattering lesson, which now resides in the title of this thread.

So the peckerhead swerved to run over it ??? Jackass. Was he afraid his truck will high center ??

Oh, I lost the nice nice footpeg off this cherry honda CM400 I was working on last month. That was such a nice footpeg too, and the clwon that owned it, took the mount mechanism and tossed it and fit this shitty new one, just as I found an idential one to the one I had fall off ... He was so flippant about it too ... I almost beat the crap out of him for sawpping out nice and good old stuff with shitty new stuff.

Then I also have lost a nighthawk side cover on Hwy 237 in CA through sunnyvale, only to locate it a week later, nearly intact, in the left shoulder ... and pick it up.

Cool.
