The previous owner my gs did a rattle can job to baby blue over the factory purple. Is there any way I can strip the baby blue but keep the original factory paint intact?

Try gasoline. Depends on how much he sanded. I hate the whole concept of painting over perfectly matched factory paint. Why dont we draw over the monalisa with crayons, or draw sharp outlines over a monet, it has a lot of purple. I can see if the paint was mismatched panels ... then OK.

I would call an automotive paint shop and get their advice.  -- JIM :)

Ooo actually start with wd40. It definetly wont hurt anythign and will get most rattle can jobs off by getting under it and not dissolving it like gas would do.
I guess lighter fluid may be your next stop. Its kerosene or paraffin right ... OK stay with gas then.
