Id rathr have it and not need it than need it and not have it.  I keep it tucked away next to my bed. I generally only carry it at night.  Good judgment and a little bit of situational awareness can keep you out of situations where you would have to use a weapon.

In 12 years I have never needed it, close one time but hey you throw enough drunks out of bars for a living and someones bound to hold a grudge. But if things go bump in the night I like being prepared. Not all people are sane and peopel going about their business in "safe" places have been attacked and killed. Just recently 2 teenagers in a fairly nice suburb of Tulsa walked to a convenience store and were found dead a couple of days later. The killer had no idea who they were, they were just there.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

Got this one yesterday!! http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=112948&highlight=russian+sks  I don't think you have to be a member to view the photos of that site.  Its a pretty nice rifle for what it is.

That's a pretty nice looking ol SKS.  I had a buddy with one and when we discovered it had a nasty tendency of firing fully automatic he immediately went out and bought a couple 30rd mags..  That thing was a freaking blast.

yamahonkawazuki

IIRC the full auto ones can be a tad illegal, unless yall know of a loophole?

As long as it was made prior too may of 1986 it's easily qualifiable for a NFA registry as a full auto, otherwise it can only be possesed by law enforcement or military, but California's not gonna allow you to have it. I've got my trust formed so I don't have to screw with local chief law enforcment officers who wont sign form 4's. Working on a little project gonna build an AR15 with 10.5" Barrel and then do a detachable silencer.

On the pre86 thing I forgot one thing, you may have have post 86 dealer samples provided you have an ffl and I believe a class 3 federal SOT permit and the dealer samples are approved of by a law neforcement agency. Not really interested in getting into federal special occupational tax permits though since I do not wish to open a firearms dealership.

Thompsons are awesome :thumb: You can buy the semi auto versions still very easily, pre86 samples which qualify for NFA tranfer to civillians are extremely pricey though.

Those are awesome, I woudn't mind getting a Decomm'd one just to look pretty. (If it worked, i would have to fire it)  This is a replica, but a damn nice one:

.45acp is now up to 25 per box at a big 5 store.  I can get it for around 13-14 per box on ammoman.com.   Its skyrocketed in the last 3 years.  I used to buy it at longs drugs for 7.99 per box for the cheap stuff now its 21 there.

by the way, here is the new rifle.

Going to shoot it on monday sometime.  Have a thousand rounds to burn through.

That's a nice looking SKS for sure, someone kept it up pretty well.  In my experience they are a pretty good all around rifle and decently accurate for the era.

That 7.62 will go straight through an armadillo too.  Down in GA we had rabid ones that would charge you,  000 buckshot would barely phase em so you had to be a little more creative.

b_long_1

Anyone try the russian m-44? I have one . They are cheap as hell and fire the 7.62x54. This round is a lot of fun , loud as hell and a big flame comes out of the barrel.
