Do not buy from mr.zx9
I paid him for a f3 rearset 7-23 and still havent recieved it. He claimed he shipped it to my old address and it was recieved there, but when I asked him for the tracking number he said he didn't have one and that his friend at the post office looked it up. Anyone know if that's even possible with out a tracking number? I stopped at my old address and they said nothing came there and also stopped at the post office and talked to the carrier and she said there was nothing delivered there for me. I also have been getting all my mail forwarded to my new address. I'm guessing I got ripped off.

Or the guy could just be an idiot.  I have seen many people so poorly pack items it's a miracle they arrive at all many times.  Having worked in a shipping department for a few years I learned the do's and don'ts of shipping.  So maybe he did send them but they never arrived.  Just posing an alternate thought.

Also, I ship everything by UPS just for the tracking number and the automatic $100 insurance.  The post office has no way of tracking a package unless you pay for it and even then there are rules.  Truth is the post office sucks for anything but regular letters.

When you buy from an ebayer, estimate the weight of your purchase, get a price quote online and an address of the nearest shaffed UPS drop off location and ask the ebayer to ship via UPS and offer a few bucks more than they asked for regular post office shipping.

Still seems like a pretty good reason not to buy from the dude!

My ebay policy is to try to find only items that I can pick up in person.  Shipping UPS or FedEx does sound like a good alternative though.

Another thought on Ebay... whenever I buy mechanical or electronic equipment used, I always factor a repair budget at 20% of the cost to fix whatever problem prompted the seller to get rid of it.  (i.e. if I've got 120 bucks to spend, I only bid 100) I've made 5 Ebay purchases over 100 bucks in my life and every single one of them has needed some kind of repair or reconditioning!  I've pretty much given up on finding 'deals' on used equipement online.  Good luck with your shopping... I hope you have a better experience than I did!

apparentyl you guys have had some bad experiences on ebay but I live by it.  I purchase everything from there including a new engine for my car.  That was the largest item I have ever purchased for about $1500 and everything was fine.  I regularly make large purchases on there and haven't once had a problem.  Though I guess if you're that worried [pay by paypal, if the seller can't provide a tracking number they will refund you, they also have a money back garuntee thing you can buy now.  Ebay also offers up to $250 of buyer protection so you can make a claim through them, if the guy can't give them tracking info for the seat or prove it was delivred they will give you what you spent minus $25

I went and looked at the feedback on "mr.zx9" and it does not look as if he in the business of ripping people off.

According to Ebay he was done 196 transactions since being a member and has only 6 negative transaction of which one is yours.  I only checked out three of the negative feedbacks and two of them he was the seller and the other the buyer.  As the seller he did state that he refunded on buyer because the buyer was not happy with the product that he sold them.

It sucks that you did not get the item because maybe it was sent to your old address for some strange reason and maybe the post office did not forward the item because of a mistake at the post office.   The real question should be why did he ship it to your old address?  I would guess that that he got the old address from you or from information from PayPal that was not updated for some strange reason.

Did you happen to move from the old address before the auction eneded or did you move after the auction ended??

So is he a "bad seller"?  It sounds like he made a mistake in not keeping the tracking number info or for not spending the money so that the item could be tracked.

Maybe the post office lost it??

I had a good experience with ebay recently...I bought a 89 gsxr 750 wheel with buy-it-now and all you guys pointed out it was a 1100 wheel based on photo.

Well, the seller looked into it after I called him and he was very good about offering a refund if in fact it was an 1100. It was and mistake on his part so he refunded full amount.

Good guy. Sometimes you get screwed but most are good-just ship with a trackable method.

I have very occasionally gotten ripped off on Ebay.  I think you need to take it in stride, though -- given all the good deals you get, a baddie now and again isn't going to kill you and I don't know if it's worth getting all hot and bothered about.  The one thing I find ludicrous is their feedback system -- when I HAVE gotten ripped off a few times, I left negative feedback but just as soon as I did, the &%^*ing sellers left negative feedback about me!!!

There's no doubt that Ebay has some killer deals on motorcycles though.  Having taken to this naked bike thing by inheriting and rebuilding my wife's GS500 (what a relief, compared to my 1/3-ton tourer!) I think I'm going to sell it and buy a 2002/3 Triumph Speed Triple.  It is, in my opinion, one of the coolest cycles ever built.  Christ, I don't know how the dealers can stay in business though.

The U.S.Post Office annually ships approximately 2.6 billion tons of mail.
And they lose 1.2 million tons. 1.2 million is a drop in the bucket compared to 2.6 billion.

Just some useless information.
