How did you mount the speedo and tach with the Vortex clip ons?  Did you fab a bracket or something?  I'm going to install on a rainy day but haven't figured out how I'm going to attach the guages.  Do you have a pic as well?  I like that tail a lot, looks sweet  :thumb:

TarzanBoy

The tail looks odd with it being at the wrong angle on the bike.  It is sloped as if to let the passenger slid off of the back of the bike (and there is no sissy bar!)

NICE!
modify subframe? any pics of how you mounted?

Yeah, that is the first thing I noticed. Looks like it needs to be raised a couple of inches in the rear. Other than that, lines look good and the seat matches the tank well.
Common sense in not very common.

The Buddha

I dunno, maybe the bike is lowered. Even the front looks lowered, as does the belly pan ... it looks squished dude, like someone else on this site who shall not be named ... did you load up a 400 lb chick and try to run the twisties ??
Cool.

I mounted the vortex clip-on's above the triple and pretty low down the forks, its low, but haven't scrapped plastic, only my feet.  I'm less leaned over than with the stock seat, girlfriend hasn't ridden yet with the new tail, i can't comment on her seating. No she's not 400 lbs, she 108 lbs soaking wet. Jardine Sounds amazing, really happy with that. Subframe was cut off and the back was modified and i welded a cross bar to fit rear seat lock and support.

you mounted the plastics too far back and too far down. the only way these looks decent on our lil GS is to shorten the main seat by a few inches and pull main bolt hole in the plastic to be around where the bolt that holds the tank is. I just drilled and tapped my frame

Looks great.  A whole lot of nice work on that bike, congrats.   need a pic of your GF on it though.
Attack but have a back up plan

Chef GS500f 06

The Plastics are bolted in where the stock bolts are for the tank. GF rode on it last night and said it was alot more comfortable than the stock seat was, she was too far leaned over, if you look at my bike compared to mach1's its alot more lower all around, especially in the front. Chef

On the R1 tail end story:

(for more follow the link in my sig)

As i didn't want to go for a fairing, we chopped 30mm (1.2in) away in the middle, mounting screws use the holes for the tank.
A bad day on the bike is better than a good day in the office.

They both look really good, i wanted to install the undertail so i followed the frame and used the dremel alot, i never though of chopping the seat, but after all the welding its perminent. I took it to the local bike night and these guys from  honda dealership couldn't figure it out until i told them what it was. Chef

Bike looks absolutely amazing...any chance we can get a few pictures of your subframe ie what you did to it?  I have an r1 tail I'd like to install myself and haven't got all of the guesswork figured out just yet.
