I just got off the phone with a sales guy from Pingel Petcocks.

explained how after I rejetted i was experiencing fuel starvation and was curious about a more free flowing frame mounted petcock

He sid that even after minor rejetting, this is common on any bike

with out buying anything, he suggested and said running in the PRIME position is gravity fed and will work the same if I installed one of their petcocks

he didn't suggest buying anything (gotto love honesty) runinng it in prime and switching to the regular ON\RESERVE position when parked  essentialling using it as

PRIME=ON
ON\RSERVE = OFF  (but will work for casual riding)

gunna feel more old school but gunna love the performance

going for a twisty ride tonight and will let everyone know what i think later!!

also forget to mention, ........no reserve option, watch your tank if you do this!

i'm anal and never go over 100 miles, with exceptions of course, on a tank so this may not be a problelm for me

Way to go! Good info, too. Why spend the money. If it works, don't fix it.

by problem was difinatly fuel starvation!!!

went out along the twisting river roads in eastern MN this weekend and had the time of my life

just to verify it was fuel starvation, i switched it back to ON twice and it wasn't happy, back on PRIME  and was screamin

If anyone else has rejetted and changed the airfilter to a foam, if you experience poor performance at higher sppeds, try switching to PRIME and run ........i t made my GS very very happy

Actually, at least on my '92, prime doesn't dip into the reserve. So when I run out I stop on the side of the road and tilt the bike to the left to let the float bowls fill back up. Then switch to Res. Put the bike upright and ride off.

Still doesn't hurt to check the tank occasionally ;)
