Ive read many discussions regarding tyres for the GS on this site, but none seem to mention my own tyres of choice which are Michelin Macadam 100X 130/70ZR17 and 110/70ZR17. These are ZR rated radial sport/touring tyres. They're quite pricey but they grip well and last for ages (approx 10K miles). Has anyone else used this tyre on their GS?

Those would be great but I've never seen them in those sizes in the US. The compound on my 90x tires is great but they're too big for the rims and the pinching causes handling issues. If I could have gotten 100x tires in the stock sizes like you did I would have been all over it. Lucky bastard.  :nana:

I've been using the combination of Mac 100 front and Mac 90 rear in the stock sizes for a couple of years.  My local distributor advised me that the Mac 100 rear was no great advantage over the Mac 90, whereas the Mac 100 front was a lot better.  I am still on the first front one and am coming up to 20,000 km on it in a bit less than 2 years.  It has been fantastic in that it has never let me down rain or shine but as it has worn the steering has gotten a little heavier (I guess they all do that, and yes I have checked the air pressure!).  I am on the second rear and look like I will average about 10,000 km out of the rear.  Again, never even looked like slipping in all waether.  As the cost for these in my neighbourhood is not a great deal more than some of the bias tyres (eg Bridgestone BT45s) I think they are great value and cannot recommend them highly enough.  :thumb:  :thumb:
