Got my bike running good replaced head gasket to fix oil leak. Now driving home yesterday I had oil dripping pretty good at red light. When I got home center stand and back tire was drenched in oil. Pulled off clutch cover and started engine no oil leak visiable. When I put it into gear on center stand oil gushing out behind sprocket. Was able to remove main shaft oil seal wasn't easy by jamming in an allen wrench and pulling with pliers. Ordered new shaft oil seal and clutch shaft oil seal just to be safe. Worried about putting main shaft oil seal back in. Read somewhere on board about splitting engine. I really don't want to go there. My idea was putting old seal on top of new seal and using some pcv pipe to hammer it home. Do I need sealant? Could I use vaseline? Any advice is appreciated.

Although the lip of the seal should be lubed with oil or grease, the part that presses in against the metal bore should be lubed with rubber lube (soapy water, RuGllide, or such).  The bore should be clean and dry, so you may have to lay bike over on right side onto a furniture pad or such and use paper towel wick to clean and alchohol swab to degrease.  A flat washer that fits or even the backside of socket can be used as a press head.  If you can not press it in, tap it in gently.  Al least this is how I go about it; right or not.  I am self taught and the teacher is an idgit!
