I have a 2007 gs500f and in the near future im planning on getting a exhaust and jetting my bike. I dont know much about jetting except for what i've read on this site so my question is do i need to buy a jet kit or just buy the individual parts. I also dont know what size jets to go with. I want the best performance and throttle response that i can get. All i have done to it so far is a drop in k&n air filter. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Also, would going with different cams change the performance at all?   :thumb:

Buddha is the man to talk to about re-jetting and i hear the Kits are horrible. Buddha has got a jet Kit that is specific for whatever setup you have. also look on the wiki for poor mans jetting pictorial. its a little different than an 07 bud it gives the general idea.
05 GSF lunchbox, yoshiexhaust, Fenderectomy, 15T Front Sprocket,Grilled W/lights, custom dash, flushmount turns.  05 gone now a 93 stock =(

K&N drop in should actually be accompanied with a rejet ... dont care what K&N says.
Uni drop in, yea no need for rejet. I believe a well oiled Uni actually flows a shade less than the paper. K&N with restrictor still flows more. Not a whole lot more, but considering its lean as heck stock, I'd jet it before leaving the showroom floor.
Anyway, Jet pack for 01+'s are now available, and $28 will get you an overkill of stuff ... (I may change it to a non overkill and possibly drop the $ to the same $22 as the 89-00 pack ... when I lose the mid mains, but I am not sure yet if washers under needles are better or mids are) ... so you get mids also.
I dunno who's running 142.5 with A k&n in air box. I think 130 (essentially stock +1) 62.5 mids ??? that may be replaced with #3 washers - or not.
Cool.

Hey Bubba, From what i've been reading for a fee people send you their carbs to be jetted. If this true how much and whats all involved. Thanks for your help.

So it is your opinion (Buddah) even a totally stock GS ought to be rejetted? What do you gain by fattening it up? Bend any bars lately????

The Buddha

Yea, before it goes off the floor.
125/40 was canada bike jetting, 122.5/37.5 is US. So unless you bought a bike in canada, yea jet it.
New bikes all are made like US I think. But a +1 always helps, cos they leave them at the -1 state.
