From reading I've found that when installing led turn signals you need to get a wagner 522 flasher. Should I presume that this just replaces the flasher relay that is already installed?
thanks

tripleb

yes, you are correct.  Although, I think you should try them out first before you drop a few bucks on a new relay, but that's just me.

I had a thread in here about that subject and I got a tridon electronic relay from Discound Auto Parts for $9.  It the 2 pronged version.

great....thanks.
i'm pretty sure it's the relay though. they're installed and light up, but don't flash.

I'll tell you my story. I hooked them up, and they flashed crazily. And then after about 3 minutes I hear a POP. I don't know what happened. It's about to go to the dealer, but according to them it's going to be about $300.

you installed a new relay and you heard a pop?  That's really weird.

Hey,
yes it is true if you ever plan on or is using any sort of LED turn signal lens you will need to use a LED falsher relay. it the same as the regular relay but it meant for LED setup. it due to the current the LED uses compare to the standard lamps. if you need LED turn lens or ralay hit me up..i sell them for my work. i sell (wagner..grote..PM..trucklite..etc..) just about any kind. my inventory are more of 18 wheeler big rig but most bulbs/light/lens are the same as car/bike.

When installing my LEDs all four of them that is. In addition to the relay I had to put in a load balancer which got all of the blinkers to work. In order to get the turn signal indicator light to work I had to install a diode. $21 for the balancer and $6 for the diode. I got them from kurykurin and the instructions were pretty good.

Hope this helps!

You don't need any diodes or balancers if you just install rear LED's and leave the front. That is, if you're interested in that set up.

And I say  :bs: , unless you managed to destroy your stator or something....probably just a fuse, and they're going to make $299 profit :o . Check the fuse first, then do a bit of diagnosis before you go near the stealership. Put everything back to standard, then tell us what does or doesn't work. :thumb:

It was the flasher thing that died. I replaced it with one that is specially made for our gstwins and LED's and they still flash at the same time. If anyone has one or knows of one and where I can get it for a 2007 gs500f I would greatly appreciate it. I have to ride my bike to school everyday and it's getting dangerous with no turn siganals. THanks.

I saw this thread while in Holland last week but didn't want to touch it then...

If I read this correctly, the current situation is that all of your signals flash at the same time?  Define "flash crazy" for me.

Can you read an electrical schematic? I usually post my simplified version of the turn signal schematic. But in your case I will ask the question first.

I don't really know how to take that, is that a, i could post my simplified schematic but i still dont think you'd get it comment lol

I guess it could be taken that way and if the shoe fits... ;)

Understanding why this doesn't/isn't work(ing) is easy if a person can read a schematic even though the theory of all the components may not be clear.  The schematic directly correlates with the wiring of the GS.

I wouldn't try to explain something using calculus when the question came from someone with basic math training.

Skeets clearly wants this resolved and probably regrets mucking about in his wiring.

A load balancer will do the trick. I hooked it up to the rear flashers here is the link with all the info. And it is now $16.99

Here is the link for the diode:

I'm not really good with electronics and it took me a lot of heartache to get all of this stuff figured out. But, after getting the right tools it turned out to be quite easy.

So If I installed a inegrated turn signal and flush mounts, I will need 2 load balancers?

Toogoofy317

I only used one load balancer.
