Had an interesting discussion with my bro the other night. We talked about obligations, responsibilities and how much more fun life was when work meant slaving all night, money meant being able to -just- pay the rent, and fun meant getting blasted with friends and howling all night.

But

Now I have kids. So everything has to stay 'stabile' and stuff.

Then I passed a fella walking down SR-25 smoking a fatty. Big smile, big wave. SR-25 outside of B'ham has fantastic curves and loads of elevation.

At first I thought "what a fool walking down a highway getting stoned".

Then I thought again. I'm the fool.

So, did you grow up, realize it sucked, and decide to do a few wild things again ? I'm lame, i know, just wondered how far removed and lame I am now @ 35.

:)

There are days i'd like nothing more than to score a bag and pack a bowl.  hey, honesty is the best policy right? but, that being said, i haven't done it in a long time. growing up sucks. much more trouble for it now than when i was in highschool.  :dunno_white:

well im 22 and growing up sucks and it is kinda fun just getting by but i don't plan on haveing kids at this rate its not really looking like a wife eather.

i don't think your detached or anything i think you have just grown up.  kids will do that. a good freind of mine that i used to race with just had a kid with his wife.  and had to sell the track car and his S2000 turbo to get a new volvo stationwagon.

don't get my wrong good for him hes excited about the kid but wished he could have kept the toys.  but thats not my cup of tea. i want to be old talk to people remisiny of all the cars and toys they had back in the day then listen to tell me how they had to sell them and just reply with ya i still got mine.

maybe ill change but im betting not likly

I only layed off the party scene because I couldn't keep up with it anymore. I'm sure you miss being irresponsible, but I would guess not that often.

makenzie71

meh...I like having money in the bank, a real meal every night, and fun toys to play with.  I have a friend who never graduated from the "party scene".  His salary was higher than mine and his required bills were fewer, yet he still never had anything.  Everyone misses not having realistic obligations but only idiots think they were better off.

theUBS

I'm fortunate enough to not know what I might be missing.  However, I will say that I've seen some for which experimenting has had a lasting negative impact--and they're generally the ones who never gave it up.  I'm guessing that especially if you have a family, the cons must outweigh the pros.  :dunno_white:

I'm 22 as well and did my share of "partying" in my teens. It's behind me now and I don't plan on going back. I've seen all my friends I used to party with/make music with keep doing the same old routine with drug use and they dont really have anything to show for themselves. Everything they wanted out of life(my band especially) just became pipe dreams.

GeeP

Couldn't do it.  I never could fit into the party scene, I have no interest in it at all.

I'd rather hold an intelligent round-table discussion with a few competent people or have a small, sane, get-together / feed / movie run, etc.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

+2. I just can't wrap myself around drugs and alcohol as a substitute for fun.  Its fun to knock a couple back, get relaxed, and have a poker night or fun movie night with friends, and have discussions about whatever we may have, but partying to party ( aka getting black-out drunk or stoned) is just not my scene.  I tried to fit in with that crap and it just doesn't work for me.

Smoked for a couple of weeks in HS and didn't like it then. Been 21 years since I tried it don't miss it. My ex wife is a smoker, her and all her friends are still just barely making it through life never have anything they've earned and never get the satisfaction of getting to do things because they earned them. I pity them they're almost like zombies.

Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

groff22

Hmm. I've never really fit into the party scene either... I can't tolerate licquor very well and it doesn't tolerate me ... And sloshed Drunk people tend to piss me off. That said, I'd rather get stoned over get drunk any day. More creative, relaxed with less risk for intolerable behavior.

I'm going through...oh...somewhere around my third teen-hood now. My son's grown up and on his own, so I get to play again.... w00t!

I'm not into drugs (though I have nothing against them), but I do enjoy my cocktails when I'm out dancing or karaoke'ing! This was this past Friday night...at da' club...
