sounds like something from a bad hollywood war movie.   :icon_rolleyes:   and no, frankie, i'm not being disrespectful to you or your service, it was just a comment. take it with a grain of salt.  ;)

I'd be demanding plenty of meds and a King's Ransom to live on. You are the only person I've ever heard speak (type) of "the bends".

I think there are only two places "down here" that can handle "the bends". I THINK but ain't 100% sure one is near the coast of Louisiana and the other is Florida. I freak out past about 12 or 15 feet so the snorkel is the way to go for me! :)

And truthfully I am saddened to hear of your woes. You have done a great service for all of us. I thank you.

I think our hyperbaric chamber was in New Orleans before Katrina. I think it is now gone.  How many atmospheres did you have to ascend from (I know I shouldn't end my sentences with prepositions)?

the bends are not really a big deal.. i would guess that 1/2 of navy divers/ spec ops divers etc had some sort of bends some time in their career.  it is just physics and the operational requirements of the job.

3 ata,  the navy has dozens of chambers.  the two man chambers are portable and can be anywhere in the country in less than 24 hours.  we used to take one with us on board the cormorant.
