its SICK!

check out the HP rating.. its creeping up to the grand daddy of HP's on japanese sports bikes (hayabusa).
'01 GS500. Mods: Katana Shock, Progessive Springs, BobB's V&H  Advancer Clone, JeffD's LED tail lights & LED licence plate bolt running lights, flanders superbike bars, magnet under the bike. Recent mods: Rejet with 20/62.5/145, 3 shims on needle, K&N Lunch box.

Man the Bus doesn't even count. It's not a superbike. It's a 130 lbs heavier and made to go in a straight line. With the 186 MPH limiters it's basicly pointless now. The R1 and the GSXR 1000 can flirt with that magic number (although with some re-gearing and signifigant instability, relatively speaking). What's scary is how much power they can produce in a bike designed to HANDLE!

Here's sort of the front
These horsepower numbers have to be what is at the crank.

I saw the new R1 on greg's garage.  I love the underseat exhaust.  very cool bike.  I think I'd still rather have an SV1000.

race ready = cool

naked =  really cool !

glenn9171

99% of the time, "official" HP numbers are the ones from the crank, not the rear wheel.  This way it sounds more impressive.

South East Rocket

Well what would 180hp at the crank translate into rear wheel?

glenn9171

Given the 15% average loss, it's about 165 at the wheel.

If you look at all the new offerings for 2004, it is the closest it has ever been to the Japanese Repli-racer syndrome.  All of the liter bikes are almost identical in performance and design; more so than ever before.

I was doing some reading on R-1 forum.com and it looks like everyone is scared by what kawasaki is doing.. they say this bike is gonna own them all!

Cant wait!

Then i cant wait til Suzuki fires back in 2005~! :guns:
