Hey guys,
i was wondering if there is any kind of website or data base that allow you to search a Vin#/engine # to see if they might be stolen or something. and i'm not talking about Car-Fax. just some sort of free web-site that allow you to do that. i know i could try to go to the DMV and check up on the Vin# but from my pass experience with any vehicle that i'm not the register owner, they won't give me any infos. basically i just want to know if particular vehilce that i'm interested in buying is stolen or have any back fee from the DMV.
thanks.

Yeah, check like your local police department, or the department of law enforcement for your state.  they usually have a website with a database you can run your VIN through to see this.   your DMV website may also have this data.

any cop/LEO can run the vin/tax plate and tell you if a title-able item is stolen. remember, they are paid by YOUR taxes to SERVE YOU.
