Hello, My brother just bought a 91 GS500 and I'm in the middle of some much needed maintenance.  The former owner said that the fuel petcock was bad and gave us a new one to replace it with.  So we did that.  But she was still bogging out and dying after a few minutes.  Since the petcock would only work on the PRI position, I figured it was dumping too much gas into the carbs (they were leaking) causing the flooding and backfiring.   So, tear it down, clean the carbs, replace the spark plugs put it back together (the way it was when I took It apart.) and It's STILL doing it!!!  GRRRR,  so get online, and try to figure out what I did wrong.   Do some searching and decided to go look at the parts fiche..  Ah ha!!!!  the fuel lines are all hooked up wrong!!  go replace the fuel lines the way they should be.. Bike fires right up!!   Woo, so i just saved my brother some money (by the way, this bike is extremely entertaining to ride)  but I still have 2 issues.  First the Right side case gasket is leaking oil.   So, that's on order awaiting delivery.  Second, I cant for the life of me figure out where this little hose goes..  It wasnt connected to anything when I took it apart so I'm kinda at a loss...

any help with that would be great.. thanks!

that's the vacuum hose that opens the petcocks diaphram, allowing fuel into the carb's float bowls, when it's on the "ON" position.

PRIME bypasses the vacuum portion, and if you still have fuel leaking from the carbs, your float height needs adjusting. i'd provide a link, but needd to go to work now :D

There's a nipple on the top portion of the left carb.  It's slightly behind the bar that controls the choke.
