Went to change my clutch cable today.  Open the cover and see gunk everywhere, really wet black nasty stuff.  Pull the push rod to check for straightness and this dark black liquid poured out.  Not sure if all the gunk is from the chain or pushrod.  Is the pushrod seal consider a routine replacement part?  From the parts diagram, it seems like it's just one screw and the seal mounting plate and seal comes out, is that so?  Thanks,

fred

It is most likely crud from the chain. I replaced my clutch cable a couple of months ago and the crud in there was unbelievable. Tons and tons of chain lube and whatever else the chain happened to pick up and throw in there. You could always clean the area really well and then warm the bike up on the center stand. If oil starts seeping out, you've got a leak, if not it was probably just junk from the chain...
