carbs dirty?

Ok, I'm having trouble starting the bike.  Using the choke seems to kill the bike, leaving it off and giving it some gas will eventually get it started but it won't idle and runs rough.  Also, there is gas coming out of the carb air vent hose and the airbox drain hose and the airbox interior is very wet.  I haven't ridden for three or four weeks, but at that time it ran fine.  Could the carbs be gummed up?  If so, isn't there carb cleaner that can be sprayed into the carbs while the engine is running.  I'm not a fan of working with small fiddly parts like jets and floats if it can be helped.

prob carbs or a bunged up hose.  I'm not sure about carb-cleaner magic tho... I prefer the 'get your hands dirty' way to carb probs.

stuck float/ stuck float jet (the sharp brass thinger bob that is supposed to slide up/down in the carb)

knock LIGHTLY on the sides of the carbs with a screwdriver.

I've come across the same problem on my girlfriends bike... it looks like its the float level... But, more importantly... Before you fire it up again or ride it...check that the crankcase isn't now full of fuel... check oil/dipstick and just make sure its not clear instead of oily and isn't smelling of fuel... like mine was... I checked it just in case and I guess the bearings would have been shot if I'd got it going again
