Quick carb question

Just a quick carb question here,

I'm busy trying to get my carbs adjusted right. I'm running stock exhaust and stock airfilter. Replaced the jets with 127.5's and seems to be running okay. The only problem is the huge flat spot between 4500 and 7500 rpm. Now i hear everybody is putting washers under the needle but why not use the c-clip adjustment instead. i put mine on the most bottom position but i think its running to rich. Also when driving on the highway at constant revs it surges a bit.

Any thoughts on c-clip adjustment?

Where are you located?  If not US, then you have c-clip adjustment, and you should just try one groove at a time.  If you are in the US, you may have a Dynojet kit and you're screwed.

I live in Amsterdam, so i guess i get to use the c-clips. I checked another gs500 carb i got lying aroung and it also has c-clip adjustment.

Stock pipe and filter is 125 mains ... your country may have got that stock ... so maybe just clean and set floats and adjust air screws and synch and leave it be.

117.5 was stock actually. The dealership only had 127.5 in stock. I think i'll go for 2.5 turns out and on the second to highest c-clip setting. see how it goes. Thanks for the help!
