Some miscreant, some worthless turd, some cancerous polyp on the anus of humanity has stolen my beloved GS500.

I woke up this morning and strolled out of the house to go to work, and... nothing. I was in shock. I had to triple check with myself that I hadn't left it somewhere else. The gits. It was locked to a fence, but not well enough, obviously.

After I pay the insurance excess I'll get about £300. After all of the time and love...  I'm heartbroken.

It royally sucks to read news like these, especially after all the care you've put in your bike and your nice holiday report.
Sorry for your loss, I've been there already 10 yrs ago.

I'm so sorry, it's a horrible feeling! It's like losing a buddy. I lost a restored '68 Mustang like that.

I've had so much stuff stolen over my life that I no longer have any compassion, I now think thieves when caught should lose body parts, say starting with an index finger on the dominant hand, next time take the thumb off too and break the arm and don't set it. People will know that people without index fingers and or thumbs are crooks, and every time the perpetrator tries to write their name, pick up a key, a fork, jerk off, wipe their rear, they will think about what a pimple on the ass of society they are. Third time tattoo the forehead THIEF! and toss em to a big crowd of people who have been robbed. Forget jail, they just get free meals and cable tv there. Let them be a target for a change!

Since it was chained to your fence, check with your homeowner's policy to see if that provides additional coverage for the deductible on your bike's comprehensive policy.  Probably not, but worth checking.

The plods / coppers / bobbies / fuzz / filth / rozzers / cops / police have found the bike lying in a hedge a mile or so from my house. The report described it as being "in good condition" but didn't give any detail. I'll try to pick it up on the weekend.

I'm more aggrieved by the fact that it seems to have been taken just for a joyride. If someone desperately needed the cash and sold it, I would be able to understand, but I am angry that some people take the hard-earned property of others and ruin it just 'for a laugh'. I found myself laying awake the following night imagining what I would have done to the scumbag/s had I caught them in the act. That's not healthy.

I think I'll sell the bike, or part it out. It won't feel the same anymore. I have lavished much time and care on it, but this has dented my enthusiasm for such maintenance, when it can all be ruined overnight. This may be the end of my GS ownership

Also, I had a car accident yesterday, two streets from the car dealer where I was about to trade it in. Not a good week.

Dude, It sound like we live the same life. Sorry to hear about the wreck and I do know how you feel about the bike. It's just never right after that. Hope it all works out for you.

This is good news.

DON'T give up, i.e. don't sell/part your bike, unless it's in bad conditions.
Was it simply steering-locked when you last parked it?

Keep us updated!

PS: and don't give up driving, either... :icon_mrgreen:

2000 GS500E -- Fenderectomy, Super tidy and tiny cheapo turn signals from Ebay THAT DO LIKE TO BLOW BULBS!!! =[ ...

Toogoofy317

I feel your pain. My beloved Neon was raped last year. They apparently had all the time in the world! Unbolted the amp, subwoofers, my stereo that was a b-day present the month before, even took the cold air intake, not to mention all the interior damage! The only thing that kept them from taking the car was breaking the needle nose pliers in the ignition! Of course police never "found" them doubt they ever looked. But, when I went out that Monday morning my defibrillator almost fired I was soo stunned. So, I almost had everything fixed a month later and I put the nail in the coffin when I totalled my baby in the back of an F-250 who decided to slam on the brakes at a green light with no one in front of him ( just testing the brakes he said). I learned a valuble lesson have a good alarm system and don't put those cool little tuner stickers on your vehicle when you get the aftermarket stuff. The Acura and Cadillac parked next to my Dodge Neon had nothing done to them.

Too much blood, sweat, and tears gone instantly. Haven't had the heart since to fix up this car. But, love my gs500 and store it at a friend's house who has a garage a few miles down the road it also has low jack.

Sorry bout your luck,

Mary S.
