Wow, that sucks man. Thankfully I live in a part of Oregon where crime is really pretty low. We have the usual vandalism and lots of metal theft from meth-heads (stealing guard rails off highways and playground jungle gyms- sick bastards) and I park in a garage. Hopefully I never find out what it's like to come back to where my bike was only to find air.

Dont sell it.. Fix it up and ride!  :thumb:

Resolution:

The bike was found and delivered back to me on Saturday. I had to pay £250 ($400) for the recovery, storage and redelivery of the bike.

Cosmetically there are a number of small/medium scratches. The steering lock and petrol tank lock have been broken, the number plate taken and lots of cables (ignition / speedo / lights) have been either cut or removed.

All in all better than I was expecting. I'll fix her up then make a decision about whether to keep her.

Let this be a lesson to you all as it has been to me: if you care about your bike, don't skimp on security!

You're not going to believe this.

I return home from work yesterday to find the bike missing AGAIN. It was chained with a new, beefier lock to metal rails. There was no petrol left inside. It was there when I left for work in the morning, so this swine has taken it in broad daylight.

After the first time I stayed quite calm, and it takes a lot to anger me, but yesterday I was livid. If I had caught the scumbags in the act, there would have been much violence.

Thanks for the offer, Jay, not sure if I'll get the chance to repair it now. I'm sick of the whole episode. I'll not get another bike while I'm living in the city.

Jesus, your town sucks. I guess it was easier to boost the second time around as the locks were already broken. :dunno_white:

Bastards! I'm sorry to hear about your multiple losses!

I feel your pain. My beloved Neon was raped last year. They apparently had all the time in the world! Unbolted the amp, subwoofers, my stereo that was a b-day present the month before, even took the cold air intake, not to mention all the interior damage! The only thing that kept them from taking the car was breaking the needle nose pliers in the ignition! Of course police never "found" them doubt they ever looked. But, when I went out that Monday morning my defibrillator almost fired I was soo stunned. So, I almost had everything fixed a month later and I put the nail in the coffin when I totalled my baby in the back of an F-250 who decided to slam on the brakes at a green light with no one in front of him ( just testing the brakes he said). I learned a valuble lesson have a good alarm system and don't put those cool little tuner stickers on your vehicle when you get the aftermarket stuff. The Acura and Cadillac parked next to my Dodge Neon had nothing done to them.

Too much blood, sweat, and tears gone instantly. Haven't had the heart since to fix up this car. But, love my gs500 and store it at a friend's house who has a garage a few miles down the road it also has low jack.

Sorry bout your luck,

Mary S.

That sucks, when they raped it did they leave 'man juice' in the exhaust pipe, thats been known to happen on nice cars, could be used as DNA evidance against the scum bags!

(p.s thats a compliment)

Villager Soooo sorry bout your bike! Man if you do get it back I'd get rid of it for another; bad karma is surronding that bike. I can't believe you had to pay the storage fees , recovery fees, etc. You've already been a victim and they are charging you to boot that is messed up.

Kasumi: No man juice on the neon but the idiot left the brand new DVD player laying in the back seat go figure (roomie's bf had his exhaust stolen from his cavalier that night too)?!?!? I'm deciding now on what to put my money into my beloved gs or my sunfire gt convertible with dual exhaust and the 2.4 liter engine. Got in a nice stereo, amp and sub. I'm just a little weary 'bout a convertible although it does have a viper alarm with the radar indicator that will sound if you lean in with the top down.

I live in a tiny village in the middle of the cotswalds in the UK and some scumbags broke into my car whilst it was on the drive (that sorta thing is unheard of round here). They tried to break the lock with a screwdriver and then couldn't do that so they hammered the screwdriver directly through the side till they could reach the locking mechanism in the door and opened it that way. They trashed the inside and all they took was a set of cycling gloves. No CD player, no expensive sunglasses, ski gear (was in boot). All sorts of stuff of value was in there and they didnt take any of it. Plus it will cost me a fortune to have all the locks replaced and fix the hole in the door.

wow. TWICE that the same bike was stolen?  someone must REALLY want your bike. my advice,  find another place to live before you get another bike.

thieves deserve to be treated the same as child molesters,  brutally beaten, raped, and have their "junk" turned into literal junk between two big stones, or a really nice hydraulic vise.     I'd also support them being put to death by stoning or the pear of anguish(look it up)
looking for a new vehicle again.

I feel your pain, twice my cars were broken into...
-my dads (now mine) was broken into but nothing was stolen...except for...a handful of licorice candy
-my late one was actually attempted to be forced, but those morons (thief AND idiot, worst possible combo) damaged BOTH door locks WITHOUT being able to unlock any door and enter my car...     I had to lock/unlock my doors via the rear boot hatch for a while.
Moral of the story is, if you can't EVEN break into a Fiat...well, go get a REAL job

Villager,
again I say that it sucks, I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope you'll get it all sorted out again. :thumb:

Well, it's been a week now, looks like my baby's gone forever

The market value of the bike is £550. My excess is £250 so I'll get £300. I've paid £250 to get it back the first time, so when all's said and done I will receive £50 for my motorcycle. That's pretty depressing.

I'll wait until the spring and buy something else.

My GS days, sadly, are over.
