A few months ago I added tank pads to my GS500. You can read about the details here:
http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=42115.0

If anyone is interested, it looks like svrider.com is organizing another group buy for the same tank pads:  http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=87733

That stuff is the shizz.  I had stomp grips on my GS, but replaced them with that diamond stuff; it grips far, far better.

The glue is not the best, so I ended up using 3M spray-on adhesive.

I wrapped it a lot farther up the tank, though.  Maybe it's because I have stubby legs, and I have to hang off like a monkey to make my knee the lean guide rather than the hard bike bits.

I've never tried Stomp Grips, but I agree the Tech Spec stuff grips really well.  :thumb:

Hmmm... I've only had the grips on for 6 months or so, but I haven't noticed any peeling at all. I've ridden in rain etc and it's still sticking really well. I was very careful with the surface prep when I originally installed them (cleaning with rubbing alcohol etc) - could this be the difference?

Also, I believe the TechSpec pads are designed to be removable without leaving any residue. They can then be reattached to another bike. Is the 3M adhesive permanent?

The location I used stems from the fact that I "putter" rather than "ride"

Tank pads, for when... y'know ... when your tank has its time of the month ...  :cookoo:

I find them a lot more comfortable than tank tampons.   :icon_razz:

I did clean and prep the tank very well pre-application.  The 3M spray is permanent.

Have an admin edit your TOPIC on the original thread when you get a price.

Do you have anyone to vouch for you, since you have a lower post count ? Sorry, it has to be asked.

:)
