oil pressure sending unit bad

check with an oil pressure gauge....then remove the gauge.   it will scare the crap out of ya if you actually knew how low it is while riding.
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

are you sure i dont wanna ride it and blow the motor cause i dont have oil. could the oil pump be going bad or anything else, i also dont have a oil pressure guage

Jlittle

where is the oil pump located? and if it is a clog in my engine how would i go about flushing that?

Check the oil pressure sending unit first like werase suggested, it's item 28 in this diagram:

The oil pump is item 15 in this diagram:

Revised post: Budda is correct below, oil pump is on right side.

407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

PS- Just noticed you don't have an oil pressure guage.  You can take off the valve cover and crank the engine with the starter without starting the engine and observe if you have pressure.  If the pump is working OK you will have oil flowing out onto the floor shortly after you start cranking.

So would i need to drop the bottum of the engine to get to the oil pump. It was only suggested by my uncle that if it used rubber fins to pump the oil they could be worn. Im just going by what he said, im going to do what you suggested though.

Oil pump is by your right toe as you are sitting on the bike.
Remove that clutch cover and its hiding under the clutch basket.
Cool.
