I am looking for some decent in helmet speakers or maybe a helmet mounted headset with a mic.

It needs to plug into a standard headphone jack (gps, radar detector, mp3) and would be nice if it worked with a cell phone too.

does anybody use anything like this?

Just looking for reviews or sugestions here, not a safety lecture about how bad it is to listen to music on the bike.

Thanks.

As to what I use. I know it works on I-pods or any standard head jack is the speakers from the Nike skull cap speaker combination. I got them last year from the Nike outlet here in Orlando for $10 took out the speakers and double side taped  them in the ear areas of my Shoei Rf-1000.

The stuff I saw at the Stealership was almost $100 and it looked almost the same! They do have blue-tooth ones as well for a lot more.

Hope this helps!

If you just want to listen to music, I use the Etymotic Research ER-6i in-ear phones.  Amazing sound, good isolation from wind noise, and fit well under a helmet.  A little pricey at ~$80US, but good quality sound.

I have a "Cardo" speaker mic, it came with my Tom-Tom Rider Sat-Nav. Sound is fine but the mic is rubbish. I would not use the cell-phone whilst on the move but i did try the set-up out just to see and I have trouble making myself heard to the caller although I can hear incoming stuff perfectly well.

Having said that, a mate has the identical item and he recons it's the Bea's Knees. perhaps it's a helmet thing.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

Dangerous on the bike?  hogwash.  Listen my friend, and listen good.  Music is the window to the bikes soul .  I have a philips MP3 player .  It holds 20 gigs of music.  Awesome piece of machinery.  Get one.  Or something like it. Doesnt have to be like mine.  Unless you want to be as cool as me.
