thanks man, that is some good, good work you're doing :)

I just had a thought, if you were to auction off one of those scaled machines emblazened with the winning bidder's CHILDS NAME IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS, i'd bet you would get a pretty penny for it. just a thought :)

that would be sweet but as it is getting it done by Christmas is going to be near impossible. The national scale truck championships are in May in Helena, Montana. It will be raffled then. We havent sorted the selling of tickets yet but I think anyone should be able to buy tickets regardless of attending the event.

Yes, those are two bodies from Tamiya's Pajero kit. Its based on the Gen II (91-99 I think) Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero (and Dodge Raider) 2 dr short wheel base model. I'm converting it to the 4dr long wheel base model.
This is what they look like:

There are some [very talented] builders that make bodies completely from scratch, including one guy in Korea who has done this exact body completely from scratch. Its mind boggling. And its not me, lol. I still will modify the body enough to make it quite unique. Also the addition of a protective steel exoskeleton, real light lenses in place of the molded in ones, full interior, etc will make this one outstanding truck. Top that with getting a chance to own it for only $20 or whatever we decide to make the tickets...
The parts alone are going to be worth $500 (I'm already at $450 worth of parts on my list). Even the two bodies were $80 combined. With all the custom work thats going to be done this truck should be valued at around $1000.

just a quick update.

lots and lots of hours of bodywork and its still not done or ready for primer. But, I did get the chassis set up. missing a transfer case to make it a full roller but its almost there.

on left, motor and gear reduction unit up front, alongside the chassis mounted steering servo. On right (center of chassis, not fully shown) is the make shift transfer case (modified transmission) until the true one comes.

all that will allow me to do a full interior

made gas tank to house electronics

lots of other tricks and goodies, too many to mention.
work continues...
raffle tickets will likely be around $25-$30 and wont be available for a couple months. truck will be raffled in May.

Thanks again for all the donations, without which this wouldnt be.

Was wondering how this turned out   :icon_question:

Two years later...yeah, life, family, work, it all got in the way. Finally finished it with the help of a few friends.
it is pretty bad A$$.

I present, the Montero charity giveaway.

QuoteOkay, time to make this happen. Of course there's some complications:

A raffle is a game of chance. AKA gambling. Gambling's bad, mmmm'kay? However, it's perfectly legal to randomly select a customer for a special reward. So I'm selling stickers for $10 each. I'm not going to ship them. But once you pay, the sticker is your property, so you are receiving "something" for your ten bucks. January 1st, I'll randomly select a sticker customer to own this awesome scaler.

Paypal $10 to barnyardbuster (at) gmail (dot) com. You are purchasing Goods. Mention stickers somewhere so PayPal doesn't throw a hissy. If you want more than one chance (I mean, "sticker") please send a second or third PayPal. That way I can use the e-mail list to generate the drawing, rather than try to keep track of them all. It's a couple more clicks on your part, but I'd appreciate it.

I'm going to throw in a wall-wart battery charger, so this rig is 100% RTR (ready to run)

I'll send the rig out to the lucky winner. If you're overseas, I might ask for a little extra to cover the shipping, and any taxes are on you.

100% of the money raised will go to the American Diabetes Association.
