... suck... so does the popular media.  CNN, MSNBC and FOX news can all kiss my butt.  I'm watching Bruce Lee, Rocky and Schwarzenegger movies with my morning coffee from now on!  After that, I'm going to WORK to make this country a stronger, better place.  I'm putting my head down, getting my job done, and paying my taxes (whatever they may be).  I'm buying American whenever I can with whatever is left, I am watching those levying taxes on me like a hawk (trust me, I do my own taxes, I haven't been given a raise, and I'm watching), and not complaining unless I, or someone else can prove that Iran or North Korea gets my tax dollars to help fund their nuclear programs.  When I need medical care, I'll go get it an pay my deductible with a smile knowing that just a century ago I would be 'over-the-hill' at 35 years old, and my current condition would probably be terminal.

There are many who believe that this country is ruined

There are many who believe it is perched upon a renaissance

My hope is that we all believe that EITHER are possible depending on whether or not we focus on our individual responsibility to STOP BEEEEEYOTCHING and WORK HARD within our very imperfect, but extraordinarily fair system.

Seriously... can we PAHLEEEASE STOP ARGUING AND START PUTTING IT ALL BACK TOGETHER!?!

this reminds me...

saw on the news the other day a clip of a lady with her cpl of small children attending one of those political rallies and while weeping she says "I can't believe I get to be alive for this moment, the greatest moment in history!"

Good Lord!!  Are people THIS confused these days?

If I had to put my $$ on a few of the 'greatest days in history'  I might first start with... oh say 2000 years ago when JC changed the world, or when slavery is abolished in Europe or NA, or I'd even put the end of WWII before this.

But hey... thats just me.

well i am sure to some or even many people election night may well have been the greatest moment in their history.    right off the top she is speaking for her living history the "i can't believe" quote.   JC is a fable and has not scientific or historic fact.   slavery...well if u were a slave yes i suppose but that was hundreds of years ago.   the world wars again not in this persons life time.  i would have to think long and hard about personal history and what single event was greatest.   for me as  a person it may be getting elected.  that is probably true for my immediate and extended family.  the first to grad university and the first to hold elected office oh and the first to be a commissioned officer.  the worst days were family deaths and deaths of those under my command in battle.  historically i think the world wide event that i would tag as the most monumental would be 9/11.  it just changed everything, but the jury is still out on how.  in the same vain that the Kennedy assassination did.   as a nation in the last say ohh 100 years Obama election is definitely in the top 3.  the world wars were...well world wars...and not America's alone.      as a nation i think the bush presidency will not bode well.  historians, i believe, would be seen as a very dark time in American history.  much like the McCarthy era.   i am confident that history will paint bush as the worst president ever.

i doubt this woman was withit enough when she said "greatest moment in history" to mean "the greatest moment I'm alive for and only includes American history."  Of course I'd have to ask her personally, but I doubt it.

QuoteJC is a fable and has not scientific or historic fact.

There is more historical documents written about JC than any other figure.  Check it out, you'd be suprised.

Quoteslavery...well if u were a slave yes i suppose but that was hundreds of years ago.
I'm sure if you were a slave yes, it might be the greatest moment in history, but those who haven't directly dealt with slavery can still feel the effects of it and imagine what its like.  .   Like most of us GenX who havent seen war first-hand (unless you're in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc) but can feel the effects from those who have.  I still say the end of any war is a great day ;)

I dunno, my 2c.

No.  Sorry.  There are more historical documents about many other figures.  The Founding Fathers of the United States, for example.  Perhaps you mean there are more documents about the Son of God than any other figure from 2000 years ago.  Even that wouldn't be true.  The Caesars, for example, would have many volumes of documents about them.  Jesus, however, is shrouded in a great deal of mystery...  Otherwise, no one could even try to dispute his existence.  But, it can be and is disputed from time to time.  Even the gospels have conflicting information, which is often an example of the mystery used to dispute the stories of Jesus.

I would agree that there are more MODERN documents written about Jesus than any other figure, but definitely not historical documents.

yes, I guess I should proofread more before making outlandish statements ;)

i meant to say ... there are more documents from his time than other figures -  who are trusted as being 'historical figures' - whereas more evidence exists of JC yet his existence is always questioned.

there.. much more wordy but I'm confident in this one  :cookoo:

the bible is not considered a true historical work of literature, it is fiction.  you take the bible out and there is no evidence of JC existing.  actually JC and much of the story is taken from other religions and made into what is now known as Christianity.  it is not real, he is not real, the whole thing is not real.
