Hello to all. Allow me to introduce myself to you folks here, my name is Joe, will be 55 here in about a week or so,
i live in north east texas and have been riding since i was 15 (1st bike was a 66 80cc Challenger Suzuki). I sold my last bike about 2yrs ago. It was a 74 BMW R60. It was a plenty decent ride, but there were some issues. I have never had the need to go fast/quick (although i can sure relate to those who do), but over the years i have had plenty of occasion to need to stop quick, and the old beemer with drums front and back, a pretty hefty weight, and the lightning fast reflexes of a 50 year old was, let's just say there were some situations that my ass was tight as a snare drum when the smoke cleared. Any way i sold her, and that was that. But i've got some miles left in me, and that old urge has had me looking. And i don't think it will surprise anyone here that after researching, reading, looking, etc.,
that the GS500E (in particular) keeps on popping up as an unbeatable bike for me. All that said, i'm getting serious in looking for a say 90 thru 95 GS500E in a reasonable distance from my location (about 120 miles east of Dallas). I
have been watching ebay and have seen some nice potential bikes but i would prefer to pickup rather than have a bike shipped, and the distances were just a little too far. Anyway if any of you folks get wind of something nice, i will
have cash in hand, give me a quick word, and i'll sure appreciate it.
thanks for you time,
and ride safe.

Hey welcome to the forum and good luck with getting your GS! I got mine off of a guy from the forum a few months ago and it's been lots of fun(and lots of trouble, but still fun!)

oh Buddha, i wasn't thinking straight (someone's karma ran over my dogma) , but yes, yes- an 89 would be considered in the mix as well. in fact 89 was a Goodyear (or was it an Avon? my memory escapes me).

Yes yes, remember that, 1989 is the year that everything got better ... the GS500 came out, the berlin wall fell - I mean that "Mr Gorbachev Tear down that wall" speech, I met my future wife ...

Sorry my bad ...

On June 12, 1987, President Ronald Reagan spoke the people of West Berlin at the base of the Brandenburg Gate, near the Berlin wall. Due to the amplification system being used, the President's words could also be heard on the Eastern (Communist-controlled) side of the wall. The address Reagan delivered that day is considered by many to have affirmed the beginning of the end of the Cold War and the fall of communism. On Nov. 9-11, 1989, the people of a free Berlin tore down that wall.

Of all his speeches, Ronald Reagan's "tear down that wall," address may well become the "Great Communicator's" best remembered. The following is an excerpt from President Reagan's address.

It was the berlin wall that was torn down in 89 ...
