i love the look of clubman handlebars. Kind of the clipon look for less coin. anyone have clubmans on their gsE?? pros-cons? handaling? tank clearance? ( the bars im thinking of might not technically be clubman bars but a more modern veriation that mimmicks the agresive rideing style of clipons)

Clubmans without the 5" drop ... like in my avatar ... comming soon ...
Target $$ - 50 bucks and they are made of thick walled steel ...
Watch for my pre order call, I have a several 100 made so far ... and the always were 100% bought before they were produced ... only way I can make em so cheap ...
Anyway ... watch these pages ...

okiii, this is a big issue for me...WHY are the handlebars stock raised on each end!? They need to go lower for sure, I don't like them like that (07 GS500F)

Your making custom bars? Do you have any pics?
How to change the handlebar on a bike?...only difficult thing I see is the throttle body...how to do that part...

I would definitely want new handlebars that sit lower...will allow for more aggressive sitting position too.

Pics ... look left ...
Made over a 100 ... 2-3 years ago.
The bars are near about perfect for the GS ... cos I made them on the GS ... only constraint I had to work around was ... the fairing and tank ... the 2 weld bars are the perfect ones ... I had to make 4 weld to fit a 04+ ... so some small angles had to be changed.
I am going to ask for pre orders shortly ... veru shortly.

i had them didnt really like them before that i had sm2's didnt like the either. prior to that i had clip-ons under the top triple and now i have clip-ons above the triple

You have clip on's ... true clip on's or 89 type clip on's ...
SM2's are a fairly large compromise ... remember they were made for an SV, my 4 welds are a smaller compromise ... these were made on a GS for a GS ... but they are meant to clear fairing and tank on an 04+ ...
For a 90-00 gs, the bar I am happiest with is the 2 weld bars I made ... just like 89 with a degree of adjustability and its just ~1 inch wider than the 89's ... so your brake banjo dont hit the dash.
I dont like sm2, or my 4 welds ... dont even get me started on clubmans or drag bars ... those 2 welds ... however they will hit the tank on an 04+ ... so its a bad idea, have to get it moved away ...
Anyway, very soon ...

buddha, keep me posted on your production schedule- santa has been on my ass for a suggestion and those clubbers look like just the ticket.
ho ho

The Buddha

These are not clubman's ... or atleast that isn't the plan ...
I could make 2 different ones ... since these are not mass produced $$ wont make too much difference ... I'd start with 4 weld though, my welded is getting a band saw shortly at my request about making 4 weld bars (I call them miter bars cos they have lots of miter cuts) ... When he's eager to use it, I make the 4 welds ... 2 welds are bent and mitered ... so may have to do that as a second lot.

Both 2 weld and 4 welds clear on 90-00 ... never had that problem ... they fit that bike like a glove. Very very close to 89 and if anything better than the 89's ... You dont get the "I'm squeezing my boobies together feeling" like you do on the 89. OK well you can get it if you want to ... or if youhave very large boobies ... but not normally.

Is it possible just to invert the stock handlebars?? I don't see why that would be a problem...

The Buddha

Yea ... spoken like one who has no sense of proportions angles or locations and offsets. If you look carefully, at full lock the bars sits above the tank ... drop it 3-4 inches and guess what ... its a dent on your tank, beep beep when you turn left, and start button gets pressed when you turn right. Not fun.

It hits the triples, after that it hits the tank and the lower end  of the fairings.

It also looks totally like crap. Ask my friend Rabid-viper06 who after crunching up several things on his 07 bike, gladly paid up for an set of 89 triples and some rare ass high risers ...
In fact I gave him a set of the caps ... and inspite of that it worked like crap.

Cool.

Ok cool I get it.......so could you modify the stocks by turning them forward...so the original upward height is now horizontal height and the bars would be more away form you...I don't think that'll work either cuz it might hit the front fairing below windsheild?

I don't like the stock bars. I want ones like sportbikes that fall down (istead of rise like the gs500) and allow the rider a more aggressive position as well like leaning forward....will your bars that your building be like this?

vorBH

How many KM is it from Toronto to Charlotte? 1600KM way and back? Your about 15 hours away, realistically ~20 hours......can I come this summer and get my carbs rejetted and rear suspension modded? LOL

The Buddha

OK nothing you can do to the stock ones will do anything good ... yea I have cut them and did BS ... but dont like them, they're too thin walled ...
Forward ... upside down ... whatever ... its all very much the same ole BS. It hits everything, isn't that comfortable and ugly as hell ...
In fact if you dont put 2 sets of caps under them ... they hit the top triple ... The stock bars along with a lot of other things that suzuki spent a lot of $$$ on are really really worthless ... like exhaust, rear shock ... front brake and suspension many many more ... jets air filter and box ... one by one we'll throw these in the trash and it will make its way to some landfill where it will rot for the rest of eternity.
Cool.
