Speed stopped working, odometer stopped working, trip tick stopped working. The cable looks secure at the gauge end. Then it dissappears into the wheel hub. How can I check that end?

Remove the small phillips screw and pull the housing/cable out.
Common sense in not very common.

same thing happened to me, when I disconnected the cable from the speedo and pulled on it, half of the cable came out with one end frayed and torn.

New one arrived in the mail today  :)

found it!!!  :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

unscrewed the little screw by the front wheel, gave the cable a slight tug and the cable came right out, it was completely disconnected about 4 inches from the front wheel. I'm glad I know what it is.  :)

Is this a "warranty able " problem?  My 08 gs is only  4 months old. Got this problem.

Thanks,

Mine caught the same thing at 7600 miles. That was about 10000 miles ago. I used my GPS to figure speed at rpm. 5th gear is dead on with speed 3k is 30, 4k 40, 5k 50, 6k 60. 6th is about 5 mph under3k is 35, 4k is 45, 5k is 55 until I get over 6k, 63 is 70 and 66 is 75. I haven't checked any thing higher, I'm old and don't need be anywhere that bad.
For oil changes I do them at the season changes, Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, whether it needs it or not.

If you can't get Suzuki to do it under warantee, don't pay someone to do it for you. $15 and 5 min of work and you can do it yourself. This was like the second thing I ever had to do to my bike and it was easy as pie.

Suzuki should pay for that under warranty.

Found out the problem with mine.  The line screw into the tachometer and it just got joggled loose. It was just a matter of me screwing this line back in. all is well. Thanks.

+1 cables aren't supposed to be consumable, like break pads, thus they should be covered under warranty.
